Cager usernames on the bike forum...

Was just looking through the Commuting Mileage thread and noticed a number of usernames that relate to cages.

audi666
volvostephen

and then there is this one

aboatguy

Not complaining, just noticing

When I was 15 there was a Playboy Playmate called Debra Jo Fondren, she had this incredibly long blonde hair, and I notice this username:

jfondren3

Dont suppose it could be her, could it? She would be something like 53 now.... and maybe doesnt look as good.

Cager? What does that mean exactly?

If you're referring to cars as cages, then my name is also included in that bunch - PatrickGSR94. It's been my internet user name everywhere ever since I bought a 1994 Acura Integra GS-R back in 2001, with 89K miles on it. Still driving it today with 315,000 miles on original engine and transmission, still averaging 31-32 mpg.

I bet most people with car-related user names also use them on other forums around the 'net including car forums, or started using it on car forums before joining BF (like me).

You must be driving only highway and quite easy for 30+ mpg.

I always wanted a '92 GS-R w/B17A because they were the fastest, but I couldn't ever find one I settled for a CRX Si and put in a JDM ZC. Thankfully, I got out of cars soon after (too expensive.)

wellll I wouldn't say B17A was the fastest.

And no it's not all highway at all, in fact quite the opposite. It's mostly just my commute to work, which is mostly 2-lane roads with several stop signs, but only 2 traffic signals in about 14 miles. So it's not stop-and-go traffic either. And yes I do romp on it in the VTEC range from time to time.

Since the 1st of January I've driven about 5,000 miles, and only 3 fillups out of 24 have averaged below 30 mpg. I want a 4-door TSX 6-speed badly, but I'll probably never get rid of this car, just because it's so darned reliable and efficient.

Actually the 2g GS-R (DA chassis) w/the B17A was faster than the 3g GS-Rs (DB chassis) w/B18C due to weight and gearing. Usually by nearly a full second in the 1/4 mile, but, they're really hard to find ... up there with a good 323GTX and SAAB 9-2X Aero.

For what it's worth, I'm totally an Audi man after moving to Germany. I find that the Japanese cars don't maintain speed as well (averaging 120mph for an hour is much easier on me in an Audi than in a Subaru/Honda, for example). And, after driving a VW Passat Diesel wagon from Munich to Venice and an OPEL (GM) back, I'm definitely never riding in a GM again (at sustained higher speeds the German engineering really shines.)

well yeah, short gearing makes high speeds for sustained periods pretty bad. My GS-R at 80 mph is already spinning 4,000 rpm. 120 would be 6,000 rpm, and LOUD as hell *eek*

Of course the DB chassis is slower, that's the GS-R sedan! 2g GS-R's were also a DB chassis, oddly enough. My GS-R 3-door is a DC2 chassis. Best time I ever had in the 1/4 mile was 15.01 seconds pretty much all stock, back when it had much fewer miles on the car and trans! It's been MANY years since the car has ever drag raced.

<- In honor of my 1990 Firebird Formula I bought when I was 18, car forums were the first ones I joined because of it and this is the name I go by still. It's really a 5 speed manual transmission. I really enjoy cars, but I am biking more than I drive at this point.

And my Opel70 name refers to my 1970 Opel GT that I owned for quite a while before I just didn't have the time or $$ to put into getting it back into shape. Still think about getting another one that my son and I could keep running.

The Opel GT was a great looking car! I had a Volvo 1800 that suffered the same fate, I just couldn't keep up with the decay

I'm a cyclist, but I enjoy classic cars, motorcycles, and other modes of transportation also.

I've been an import car enthusiast for a while. My first car was a '72 VW Squareback, then I had a Honda Prelude, then a Toyota MR2. Now I have a Nissan 300ZX. I love driving, but have come to realize that all I really have time for anymore is commuting and that's a billion times more fun on the bike. My car mostly sits in the garage now decaying.

Back when it looked good...

T120 refers to my 1970 Triumph Bonneville. Definitively not a cage.

I like CRXs.

Yeah this probably belongs in Foo.

Back when my car looked good, the last really good pic of it, 6 months before I got married in 2007:

Mine relates to a lack of caging. I picked the name back when I was a biker and was wondering where the motor was on my bicycle.

Totally aside... I remember Debra Jo and that beautiful long blond hair. Her fold out picture graced the inside door of the radio repair room on the ship I was on in the Navy. I happened to be looking at some of those old photos a few weeks ago (looking for a storm pic) and came across one that showed the radio repair room... and saw her fair form...
