Seek 0 2012 vs. 2013

Greetings !

I have been browsing for a while and it has come time to make a decision.

I have test driven a 2012 Seek 0 and am really interested in this bike.

When it comes to bike specs however I am really illiterate.

Are the 2013 specs worth waiting for ?

2012 - https://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-ca/...ek/9774/49360/

2013 - https://www.cyclebuzz.com.au/catalogu...k-0-disc-2013/

Any help decoding Bike lingo is appreciated.

Thank you !

Same brakes, same rear internal hub, same amount of spokes; just different tires.

Unless one colour speaks to you more; they're pretty much the exact same.

As already mentioned, the '12 and '13 Seek 0's are virtually identical. Therefore, it boils down to two things: The color you prefer and the price. For me, it would be an easy choice. I'd get the '12 since I prefer the silver color plus should be able to get a discount now that the '13 models are being delivered. This is assuming your frame size is still available. Some of the '12 models are already sold out, so confirm with your dealer first.

I prefer the 12 colour scheme as well. My LBS is all sold out and can't get a 12 but I found one in my size about a 100 Km from home.
I really prefer to do business with my LBS ... maybe they can get if from the other dealer and sell it to me, if not I might have to make a drive out of town.

Thank yo for the replys.

Also just 1 more question.

how much faster do you think a Giant rapid 1 would be ?
I am having a hard time finding one to test drive.

What do you mean?

They're both fast hybrids. It's just that you have more personal manual control in the gear changes with the Rapid 1, than you do with the Seek 0. Also, if something goes wrong with the internal gearing of the Seek, it's gonna cost you an arm and a leg getting it replaced, whereas if something goes wrong with the Rapid's gearing, it won't cost as much. That's especially so, if you can do it independently!

Just the Alfine 8 speed IGH itself, cost $300, not to mention labor.

IMHO, the Rapid 1 is the smarter (more frugal) way to go!
