Good fork mounted lighting?

Im looking for a light that will mount at the crown of the fork right above the fender, kinda retro style and throw out a good amount of light, say at least 500 lumens or so.

Ive found a bunch of cheap ($30-$50 or so) retro lights that look cool, but reviews say they are cheaply made and weak.

Looks matter,I like the retro,or a modern twist on the retro look would be cool, and its gotta be black.

Anyone got any ideas?

They say pictures are worth a thousand words... why not show us your set up?

... Since I said that, I guess I'll need to show you mine...

Most modern fork-crown mounts work best on unicrown style welded forks. Classic brazed crowns are too slim to have room. I used an old chromed steel reflector mount on a brazed crown and that worked well.

and

Im thinking Ill use the metal bracket from the reflector set and screw a piece of PVC or ABS or something to it..spray the whole theing black and mount the light to that.

Maybe fabricating a bracket of your own is practical, to make a round tube
to mount a battery light , generically made to go on the handle bars, down lower.

I'm using wired to the hub generator lighting, down there, brackets to do that are manufactured .

I have, in the past, made up my own Battery packs, battery is elsewhere,
headlamp From a generator headlight set, is wired to it.

You put that on your handle bar..

people have used band clamped on tubes pieces
that offer a tube at 90 degrees to the tube they are fitted onto
chronometro knob was a piece to put computers out on aero bars,
but they are also useful in other situations
like putting a battery light on the fork blades.

Well my thought was to attach it to the neck dropping down in front of the bike and attaching the light upside down

Well heres what I ended up with: The Topeak Bar Extender attached to the left fork and extending up and over the fender holding an ATC 3xCREE Super Bright 2400 Lm light.Im happy with the setup it really lights up the road.

Too cool. Although it looks as if you bike must have disc brakes. Right.

I want lights that all go to a single battery, wiring them cleanly is no problem. I just keep running into internal disposable or rechargeable lights.
