I looked to see when the oil was changed in my car last (2001 Subaru Outback). It was last done July 2011, 3000 miles ago. It's a decent car and I do try to drive it about once a week, and sometimes take it out of town on a road trip.

Hey- it was over a year ago!!

Fancy I forgot about that old thread.... good times!

When, on the really rare and truly unusual day you do drive it totally screws up everything; You can't find your keys, you forget the stuff you leave on your bike. Parking is just beyond exasperating. And when you get ready to go home, you can't find your bike.

One day last fall it occured to me that I didn't recall renewing my car's plates lately. I went out to look at it and they had expired a year ago! D'oh! Guess the cops didn't notice. I went and renewed the plates the next day.

+1... that's pretty hardcore in my book. How about this: I need a ladder to finish painting my house, so I will either have to rent a truck or borrow someone's BikesAtWork trailer.

so when my car died, I inherited my wife's minivan. I only really drove it on weekends (mostly to go somewhere for long rides), and the battery kept dying on me. took it to the shop and they said "well, whoever owned this car before you had a remote starter installed, and it has been drawing current ever since." apparently she never noticed because she drives every day, but I figured it out in a couple weeks

hardcore is also when you experience severe discouragement when you are forced to drive to work, as I had to this summer when my kid needed a ride to camp not far from my office (13 miles, too far for him to ride w/me).

When people seem to keep asking if you own a car.

Yeah that's me. I ruin a car tire by letting it sit flat for too long instead of getting that slow leak fixed.
