Not Quite Sure...

...but this morning it had a foul, ominous smell. Into the dishwasher it goes!

Water, but I never drink it. I always replace it every day, but I do not drink along my commute, unless it is really hot out. Then I might take one or two sips.

My water bottles only ever get water in them. If I'm going on a long ride, I'll buy some Gatorade or similar and put it in my panniers, but I'll still also have good old plain H2O as well.

Usually just water. On long rides - over two hours - I'll put a bottle, maybe two, loaded with gatorade for electrolyte replacement in the soft side cooler strapped onto the rear rack. Long rides will also include homemade energy bar, Cliff bar, or other snack.

Many, many, many years ago when I was stationed in Japan I got introduced to the idea of coffee along the ride because you could easily find a vending machine with coffee. The other day I went for an early morning ride and loaded the water bottle with cooled black coffee. It was a nice change but I don't think I would go that route if I was headed out on a long ride. Semper Fi!

OK, let's spice this thread up a little.

One time -- and ONLY one time -- my buddy and I filled our water bottles with beer. It was the first "tour" for both of us, a 50-mile ride each way, and we were celebrating the beginning of our ride home...at 8:00 in the morning. Ahhh, to be in my twenties again.

Anyway, I wouldn't recommend it. We were both dehydrated and fighting headaches after about an hour - and neither of us could get the putrid smell out of our bottles!

Some kind of green/black slime and a foul taste... I've JUST got to get another water bottle.

Water. If I put anything else in it, it's not a water bottle anymore.
