I've been seeing this image float around on my fb newsfeed I can't use it here in OK, but if I lived somewhere snow actually accumulated and stuck around...

Bikes: MTB commuter

Not exactly a commuting bike, is it? Unless you live up-slope.

I was wondering, do they make ski-bike kits? They look like ordinary bikes with special wheels, maybe you can convert any old FS to a ski-bike.

Looks like it would take a lot of effort to drive that belt.

I will keep using my Xtracycle.
That rig wouldn't work well around here. They clear the roads.

Looks kinda cool but the bike paths here were mostly ice today. Think studded tires work better work better on that stuff!

Yup, I can't imagine those things staying on the tires very well. I'd hate to have them come off at speed and wrap around the axle. Instant crash at speed. Plus it looks like they would last about 3 minutes on pavement. Most of us ride snow ice and pavement, but mostly pavement. Studded tires already exist and work fine.

Living in a part of Michigan which receives 96" of snow between, well... now and March. That ski bike looks like a nice toy. But nothing more. The roads are plowed and cleared most of the time and that might be fun on a frozen lake or forest path, but that's about it.
