54, cool, and gray this morning for ride home in Los Anchorage, AK. Made it home without resorting to the rain slicker. And no close encounters with moosekind.

Coming from a country where it's usually 95+ degrees and 90% humid in the summer, I never understand why the Seattleites are so grumpy about this summer "being too hot to do anything." I'd be a happy man if it were like this all year round!
And no, 80 is not hot at all.

After having a weeks vacation, we went out to see my son in Michigan, it was nice to be on my bike again. Vacation was nice and so was my ride in today. the temp was 59f . The sun is coming up later in the am, I am starting out with darker skies.

Low 70s, humidity on the rise.
I had a flat Friday morning (rear tire), rear-derailleur playing funny this morning.
Since late Saturday, I've had this pain in my chest muscles on the right side. I kept trying to figure out what was the root cause. Then I remembered, Friday's flat tire.. 80lbs with a small frame pump..
Dang I must be gettin' old.

Took off this morning and could not get my left shoe to snap in. I messed with it and tried over and over to get it to work. It just wouldnt. About a mile out I turned around and went back and drove. I have never had trouble with it before, I have probably 4k miles or better on it.

Today was another beautiful commute. Cool and crisp and lovely. It's only a mile to the bus for me and then two miles to work from the bus, just enough to get my blood flowing and wake me up. Riding is better than coffee for me.
I have been SO LUCKY since I started bike commuting at the beginning of June. The weather has cooperated really well all summer. I've driven in to work a total of three times, twice for interviews for a promotion I didn't get, and once because it was raining to beat the band. Now I have a rain cape I'm even able to ride to work in rain.

Scary! Left the house without helmet or headlight, and didn't notice until getting off the train. Had two very close left hook close calls, that were entirely my fault. Thankful for the reflective jersey.

Was definitely a Monday, when trying to get out of bed, but I got up and got going.
Sunny, low to mid 60s ... and somehow turned in my quickest "to work" commute yet.

Another day with 20°C and mist/light rain, which is actually pleasant except for the mud stripe I get with my fenderless ride. Checking my logs I realized that I have biked in every day since the start of May, 71 commuting days, which is kind of cool but makes me want to drive in once so that I don't have a "streak" going.

Argh! I snapped the bolt that secures my seat post while adjusting it last night. Sure enough it was 7 pm and the LBSs nearby we already closed...

I do that to, too often. I found some bolts at Home Depot that work with seat post clamps, and also stocked a spare cheap clamp just in case.

Nice day; don't know the temp but humidity is creeping back. Fortunately I was a little slow this morning. I was waiting for the light to change at Rock Creek and Virginia Ave (by the boathouse), when a blue Mercedes coupe ran a red light. It had just turned red so I was not too surprised. I was about to go and was just a tad slow moving, and checked one more and a blue Prius ran the light - clearly not even close! I just heard a study saying drivers of blue cars are the worst drivers. I guess it is true.

Second fixed-gear commute today. I think I'm getting the hang of it - I was never taken by surprise by the pedals moving today like I was last week. I'm trying a bit of skid stopping (no intention of going brakeless...yet...) and it's easy on gravel or wet wood, but I'm still not able to hold a skid on pavement. I'm probably too tentative.
Anyway, the commute itself was cool (12C), cloudy, with a bit of tail wind. Nice overall, and uneventful. Got passed by a roadie commuter while I was pooting along the MUP. Oh well.

Pretty straightforward commute today, nothing special until I got to work and realized:
1. Strava stopped during the last few minutes of my ride.
2. I packed brown shoes and a black belt, which according to my wife is a fashion nightmare...
and 3. I'm missing two buttons in my shirt.
Fun morning so far!

Ouch...what I didn't mention are all the upgrades to the bike to get it to the point it's at. Plus I've replaced all bolts on the bike (fenders, racks, the seat bolt in question, etc) with stainless, and all nuts with stainless, nylon lock nuts, which helped a lot in the reliability dept. the good news is that after a year or so you'll have replaced enough parts that it will be like a new bike

A couple hundred miles ago I replaced my chain. I screwed up the quick links and put it back together on a regular link using my Specialized multi tool, which bent the link a little. My sister borrowed the bike this weekend and the chain pulled itself apart. I apologized and went home for the sag wagon. I got another chain and did it right this time. (Fingers crossed).
Did not actually commute on the bike today due to long-distance errands before work and at lunch. Have really fallen down about it this summer, making it only once a week or so, after going three times a week all spring.

No bike commute for me this morning.
I dont usually get sick.
I was running a temperature last night and achy in my legs/ upper and lower back. I thought the achiness was from biking too much/ too fast. I had been feeling sorta achy since Thursday or Friday. I am not sure but I think the drastic swing in temperatures wrecked my body. I took a PTO day today. I slept 11hours last night and today another 2-2.5 hours of sleep. I think I might drive tomorrow since I still have a slight headache.

I #$%^ hate flat tires.
Had a flat on the greenway 7 miles from work, 8 miles from home, on my way home. Changed the tire at bench on the side.
After going April-August with no flats - this consecutive days thing needs to stop.
