Schools closed, number of highways closed, accident outside our building (van ended up in the lake), and at 4pm, 16km ride home.

Fun? Wow!

gray and brisk; rode the roadbike today, 1st time since August; 2mph faster than the upright LHT but still 3mph slower than the roadbike was last summer.

Going to be 80F here today. Getting to the point where I won't be able to ride in wearing office clothes without getting too sweaty.

Freakin cold for April 12! Monday and Tuesday, I rode in shorts and tee-shirts and arrived sweaty. Today I had winter coat, gloves, thick socks, tights, and froze. I rode into a NW headwind all the way.

Hey, Hardy's back! When did you start riding again? (I haven't really been keeping up with this thread for a couple months).

Yesterday, I rode to work in a thin long-sleeve t-shirt under a windbreaker in 0C/32F and still ended up sweaty. Going home it was about 5C and I arrived home soaked in sweat.

It was 34 and still dark when I headed out. Nice dry morning though, and there was a glow in the east as I was cresting the ridge. Nice ride. If it's not raining this afternoon I'll pad the ride home, and get about 31 miles all together. Unless I miss the bus out of town, in which case it will be considerably more!

Another great ride in to work tonight. Beautiful sky with abundant sun shine and a temperature of 70. Absolutely perfect. Really loving this bike riding, wish I would have started this a long time ago. Feeling better than ever!

Miserable coming home yesterday, 25 mph headwind for 7 miles in near-freezing rain. Reaped the reward today with a 25 mph tailwind over the same distance. Miracle of miracles, the wind flipped around and I had a nice dry 12 mph tailwind for the ride home. Take it when you can get it.

Wet and windy going over the Manhattan Bridge. Wondered what its like going over that bridge in more severe weather. My rain gear kept me warm and dry, though.

Just started commuting regularly again several weeks ago after recovering from a messy gallbladder surgery. Pretty nice weather for riding for the last couple of weeks. After the Sandy storm we had some problems parking bikes at work, lost of construction work around (the place got messed up badly) also my office moved, we lost some space and I couldn't bring my bike inside any more so I've been parking it at the "official" bike rack and it was stolen on Thursday... bike, not the rack. It was an old frankenbike in need of some serious overhaul but still, it hurt to lose it. So now I will be riding my Disc Trucker and I'm bringing it inside again. No way I'm gonna leave it outside. But now I'm down to three bikes! I'm thinking about Kona Ute. I think it's shorter than BigDummy which was too long for my apartment. And I need some cargo ability on the bike.

I work Saturdays and usually the commute is uneventfull except we had an ice storm yesturday and many fallen trees now block the community pathway used to avoid regular city traffic. Lifting the bike and portaging the fallen trees is not a big deal but I would like to voice my dissatisfaction to the dog owner who failed to clean-up after, (had to be large), canine. Rinsing the shoe free of the Alpo waste and wipping up the traces of my foot prints into the store where I work was not a problem but when cleaning the left side pedal the large chain ring pattern is now tattooed on my good dress shirt that will be worn for the rest of the day.

Thanks,

Apart from the cost and repair time at the LBS I came out unscathed. Fortunately I have many backup bikes. My problem is my deplorable fitness level and lethargy.

I rode in to work on a Sunday; strong 25-30mph crosswind both ways, which was no big deal. Nice day for the rides!

Cool 0C but with a 30kmh gusting wind from the SE so I got cold on the first part of the ride but with the tailwind, it got better in the second part of the ride. I had to help a family member this morning so by the time I returned home, I was leaving for work late and in the end, pushed myself a bit harder. It felt really good, especially, the last hill, I didn't have as much trouble with it as I had in previous days.

Surprisingly chilly, given that the temperature is supposed to climb to 18C today.

If it really does do that, I'm going to have a very overstuffed pannier when I ride back this evening.

It's warm enough now that I trimmed two inches off the top of my fairing this weekend. I can feel the extra drag but with a nice cooling breeze coming over the top it's a good compromise. The only curious thing this morning was a car that paced behind me between lights the last half mile. As usual I wait for a green on the right turn, to have a clear shot ahead of all the traffic to the next light and left turn. So I don't know why she didn't pass with no traffic. If she was hoping to see a speed record I'm afraid I disappointed.

Nice morning ride, 54F with a little headwind. Today is the start of one of the 4 worst weeks of commuting - public radio fund drives

Woke up today and realized that I missed the last train from my town to Hamburg, where the meeting was going to happen.. Sprinted 40+ kms as fast as I could to the next town with some train connections... Barely made it in 1.5 hours. At least the weather here was cooperative.
The meeting was a success... But now i'm kind of dead.
