Finding the right bike: Advise

Hey guys,

I am looking to get my first bicycle for commuting to university and back home. I want to get a road bike, but I am nervous about buying a used one off craigslist. If you wouldn't mind taking a look at the link and tell me what you think.

Raleigh Record

The bike is a raleigh record. They are wanting 225$ for it, and i'm not sure if it is a rip off, or if it is a quality bike. I have found other bike's on craigslist, but so far it has been difficult locating a bike with a frame big enough for myself (i'm 6' 2''). Any thoughs/ advise/ opinions you could offer would be great. Also, I wanted to know if any of you think the front fork looks bent a little. Im not really sure if that is just how the bike was made or not.

Yeah, $225 is way to high for that, IMO. $175 tops, but you're market might be different than mine. The friction shifters is what kills it for me, the rest seems to be in decent shape. The cabling job looks to be ****e too, but it's not too hard to fix.

Cool thanks for the reply, what is it about the friction shifters you don't like. I've never tried them before.

In that case, this Puch I found on the OKC CL will be long gone- https://oklahomacity.craigslist.org/bik/3853697812.html

You might call or email Campus Police about any unclaimed bikes that might be available.

I was think about just waiting for their annual bike auctions at the beginning of the year. I do like the punch! I will check out the OKC craigslist, I may be making a trip down there pretty soon.
