Commuting tubeless?

I was wondering how many of the people here ride tubeless and if so, what wheelset would they recommend? I was thinking of a set of nice wide tubeless tires (big apples or super motos) riding at lower pressures for added comfort and puncture protection. Having no experience with tubeless, but still toying with the idea, I'm a bit puzzled by what would be a good tubeless setup for an 18 mile one way commute over mixed surfaces (asphalt and brick roads, no off road)

Should I try the (cheaper?) ghetto tubeless first or go straight to a UST wheelset and UST tires, or go with a Stans No tubes wheelset (Crest, Arch or Flow?) or WTB with their TCS system?

I'm open to suggestions/advice .

I'm loving my HED Ardennes+ with Hutchinson Secteur 28 tires...Check out Orange Seal for sealant versus Stan's as well.

Get a nice tubeless-ready wheelset and tires, then use tubes as sealant (not as messy as the alternatives).

Seriously though, nothing I've heard about tubeless tempts me to even try it for racing, to say nothing of commuting.

I have been very happy with my mountain bike using Stan's wheels and sealant. I have also been very happy using Campognolo Shamal Ultra 2-way fit wheels and Hutchison Intensive 25 tires with Hutchison sealant. On my sport road bike. If I could get the right setup for my commuter bike I would do that as well. I like tubeless!

I started out using ghetto tubeless(split tube method) for my 26x2.35 Big Apples and Mavic 717 wheelset.....no problems whatsoever for over 4 years...I liked the setup so much I went with 26x2.35 SuperMotos and my Mavic717 rims ghetto again....no problems

really loved the setup and last year bought a set of Velocity P35 rims and set up the Super Moto's with gorilla tape and this is a perfect setup for my commuting and again no problems....the wider rims with the wider tires really ride nice

you have to experiment to find the sweet spot with the air pressure, mine is around 35 rear and 30 front with the supermotos.....rolling resistance is minimal and very cushy ride

On my commuter, I ride tubeless tubulars (Tufo).

Thx for the heads up! Does sound good those Mavic 717 rims in combination with the ghetto tubeless setup

Mine are "Flow". I got these because they were more heavy duty than "Crest" or "Arch" also weigh a bit more but have been very rugged.
