chilly morning here in mass. low 40's.all in all dressed a little warmer.all good

Back on the saddle.. had a flat tire last week, busy week and 2 days off so didn't ride but one way. First flat tire in 700 miles and it was on top of the tube so wasn't road related. The valve stem was centered so I'm guessing the stretching caused it. Not too bad this morning. Have some fair food to burn off this week!

Cool (9C/49F) with a bit of wetness on the roads from an early morning drizzle but fine otherwise.

Goldilocks weather here today and the forecast for the coming week is looking equally favorable. We'll see if it pans out. Mornings are getting darker by the week and I actually needed my headlight to see or the first time since last spring.

A couple firsts this morning .... first time for wearing the tights since early this spring and the first morning I had to run my blinkies.

54 degrees, minimal wind. Was the first time on my bike in more than a few days. I needed a few days off because the commute was starting to feel like drudgery (I'm sure that was due in part to the cold snap we had). A couple of days in the car (including Friday's horrific commute) reminded me why I do this

Was worried my hands would be cold but they were ok. Closing in on 1,400 commuting miles this year. Would love to hit 2K for the year

Whether or not you hit 2K this year, I'm going to challenge you to hit it next year.

Gave my bike a good cleaning and once over this weekend. My steed (fixed gear) was dead silent. Guess I was way overdue for a clean/lube.

Anyway, had a great ride in. Weather was in the mid-50's which felt perfect.

Good enough ride in this morning. Overcast all day, but still supposed to hit 80F.

It's funny to me how man of my driving co-workers get to the office early and just sit in their cars, many with the engine still running. They're about to sit at a desk for 8 hours, I'm thinking, "Get out and stand up for a bit or something."

43F when I left the house, 50 minutes later when I got to my office it was 51F - tough time of year to dress. I'm also lamenting the days when I didn't have to bring different clothes for the ride home when it's forecast to be 70. Wah wah

It was a nice commute this morning. Cool quite. I just missed getting a great shot down the hill and got a light. Got the next light that usually gets me; I timed perfect. I hit the stop line at 50 km/h or so right as it turned green, I was planning to just run it, no cars, end of cycle I was going too fast and didn't want to stop.

My legs were tired so I took it rather easy except for two sections I like to sprint, but at the end of the second I felt awful. Soft pedaled the last km to work.

I got new shoes this weekend after weeks of searching. I just need to readjust the cleats and get them broken in. I lucked out, they are a pair of Serfas Cadmium. They were packaged in a box of the Niobium shoe (more expensive and not as appealing to me) which I was resigned to purchasing. So I got a pair of shows $50 cheaper than I was about to spend and I like them more! Aesthetically speaking the only way they would get more appealing is if they were called Osmium; the element I did my thesis on.

I was also having trouble finding the thread.

I recognize most of the element names that Serfas has named its shoes: Palladium, Radium, Niobium, Cadmium, Zirconium and Scandium, I don't recognize Podium though.

They also had an Astro I did not recognize as an element.

Cold 3° celcius this morning, I stopped on the side of the road to put on pants that I always carry in my bag.
When I got to work the toes, fingers and nose were very cold, I'll dress more carefully for the rest of the week.

another fantastic AM, calm and sunny. Still riding with a thumb spica on the left hand, so only one hand is available for shifting/braking, but it's working well.

A very nice commute to work today. The temp was 50f degrees and overcast this morning. I had choices to make this morning and I made the right one by riding. I am glad I did!

67F / 19C Seemed like a ton of runners and other bikes out and even more traffic than usual.

Brrr! In the 47's but was okay by the time I got to work. My wife is freaking about the fact I have no rear light now, fell off a week ago. Can't blame her. Have a new set coming from Amazon and be here Thursday.

Cooler than forecast, 5C/40F, and at 6:40am, it was darker than I expected but it lightened up within the first 15 minutes. Tomorrow's forecast is for 3C/37F with some rain, I'll be donning my waterproof lobster overmitts tomorrow morning.

It hasn't started getting cold yet in the Southeast, but we are losing light fast. I am back to using my full regime of headlights and taillights, at least in the mornings. That's the big news from NC.

People seem to ask me about this "great bicycle weather" and I go along with them, but it's frankly not my favorite for cycling. Great for a walk maybe. Not cool enough for street clothes, not warm enough for me to feel warmed up and loose very quickly, enough mist and humidity that you're damp in just a few minutes. It's pleasant in some ways, but it's not weather that I pine for all year.

Clear and 45 degrees with a slight headwind. Halfway to downtown I got passed by a guy who said, "Wow, it's a cold one today eh?!" ... so that was kind of cool. Most of the people I pass or who pass me are stoic. Not sure what gives in this town.

Last night's ride home was a bit of a character builder, chilly and rainy to start, but had stopped raining by the time I got home.

So I was reading the Journal Sentinel this morning, and reading an article about "anti-monuments" (I got hooked into the article because it featured a picture of a ghost bike that I ride past often) and I learned something. Often, particularly on my ride home, there is a fairly burly, always shirtless man walking the same direction as me. He is a VERY determined walker. Not a strider or anything like that, because his brawn wouldn't allow something like that, but he's very determined. So that's what I called him, "Shirtless Determined Walker."

Apparently, as I found out in the article, he's quasi famous around here, and people have dubbed him the "Milverine" because he sort of looks like Wolverine. Someone started a facebook page in his honor (I'd link to it but can't from work) and there's also a twitter account of some sort. Cracked me up.
