Nice! I recommend a bike tour, if still available. My wife and I did one years ago and it was great. 4 wineries, lovely lunch in a vineyard, fantastic.

Today was my first official commute in three weeks; I'm back to a normal routine after back-to-back business trips.

My first trip was to Brussels, Belgium, and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to take a few extra days to cycle up to Amsterdam. So, I have now witnessed and experienced Amsterdam bicycle commuting, and yes, it's just as amazing as you've heard. (If you're interested, you can read a bit more about my adventure here.) But, I don't live in Amsterdam, I live in Edmonton, and honestly, I have it pretty good here. Except the weather.

Cool commute at 7C, but we're in a heat wave these days, so it'll be hot(ish) for the ride home. I must enjoy these days while they last.

Much cooler again this morning, I ended getting a flat 2 miles out and no spare tube in my bag so I walked back home and took the car. Since I'm going to be at the LBS anyway I'm going to see what they have in tires, I think it's time to replace my stocks with some low resistance slicks.

picked my bike up from the shop yesterday. I had them install fenders and a new chain plus double check a few things. It rang up less than I expected.
they are the bike shop closest to work but seem to judge me and my motobecane every time i bring it in.... well at least one guy does.

I rode in this morning 59 (overkill on the clothes though... arm and knee warmers plus vest) Took arm warmers and vest off by the time I got over halfway to work. The bike shifted wonderfully and I think that the fenders will be beneficial this fall/ winter.

looking forward to the ride home high of 72

It was pleasant on the way in today — high 50s or low 60s (°F), sunny, no wind to speak of. It’s still a beautiful day out there, and should be about 65°F by the time I get off at 7 p.m. More of the same forecast for tomorrow.

I ride in shorts and short sleeves until about 50F. The first half mile is chilly, but then I climb a pretty steep hill and warm up quickly. It gets trickier for a while the mornings require long sleeves but the afternoons do not. I gotta remember a lighter top for the ride home or else overheat.

I had another great ride in. Might be another personal best time. I need to figure out if Strava will display things neatly enough for me to check. Today at work has been dull and lifeless, and I can't wait to get back to the entertaining chaos at home.

Awful.

My mom wanted me to have lunch with her, 18 miles from work, so I had to drive to be able to get to her. She's 89, so when I'm summoned I respond without question.

I kept imagining being on my bike and I drive a fun car (Hyundai Genesis Coupe, turbo, six speed)

yeah i know i used to be warm all the time but since 2010 i have lost 37-40lbs and I am a lot smaller than I was and get cold quick. I also ride about .8 miles and hit a hill that i reach over 30mph on so that messes with my clothing plans a little.

It is always hard to readjust to fall and winter clothing plans. I remember I had things pretty nailed down but I do not remember what I wore for what temps. So I guess i have to figure it out all over again. i could have gone without the arm warmers from the get go. I like the vest because it is bright yellow and has reflective stuff sprinkled across the back.

The commute was very nice this morning with the temp at 52f degrees and starry skies when I left the house. Somewhere close to the 6th mile and and before the last long downhill my brakes made a funny noise. I did get off and take a look nothing looked awry. I tightened up the straps on my rack bag cause they may have been dragging across the tire. The brakes worked fine and I have to listen more closely on my way home to make sure no funny noises are there.

Coldest ride in to work this season (to date), 1C/34F. I put on some wool gloves but my fingers were very cold within about 7-8 min so I put on my lobster overmitts and they were warm for the rest of the ride. I had on a light toque but it was not quite light enough, I sweat a lot into the toque, I have a lighter one that I couldn't find so I'll look for it this weekend (this is my last workday of this week). I put on my Polaris RBS (really bright stuff) jacket over a mid-weight long-sleeved jersey but it was too much so I unzipped the jacket most of the way.

What surprised me the most was that my toes, although cold, were not unbearably cold. I have new shoes this year and compared with my previous ones that had more venting in the toe area, these ones have less so that probably made the difference: with the old shoes, I'd have needed my toe covers below 6C/43F but I was fine this morning. Another degree or 2 colder and I probably would have reached my limit and either needed thicker wool socks (I am wearing lightweight, ankle-length merino socks) or my current socks with a toe cover.

Yesterday's ride home was very nice. The kind of day I wish I'd had time to ride 40+ miles.

Low clouds for the first part of this morning made it quite foggy. Cooler temperatures - 64F - but still plenty humid here.

Looking forward to a day off tomorrow to go on a field trip with the kids.

Our weather is being monotonously ideal all week -- morning temps in the low 60s, afternoons in upper 70s. Still a little more humid than I prefer but I shouldn't complain. Red lights still have it out for me and I got stopped at nearly every traffic signal. Made good time considering all of the stops.

Ride home last night was blissfully uneventful.

This morning's ride was ok ... 52 degrees, 10 mph headwind, literally, from door to door and my legs were feeling pretty beat up as this is my fourth commute of the week, so I didn't push hard at all.

Crossed over the 1,400 mile mark. I've got an appointment tomorrow morning so no ride for me then.

Big headwind this morning, with the 11 kms detour I needed 1h32 to get to work (versus 1h23 yesterday with no Wind) I hate Wind...

Cold but sunny, on the new road I take because of the detour I saw a beautiful blue heron 20-25 feet from the road.

Usually I work from home, but I rode to the office today because there's some stuff that's just easier to do in the office.

Nice ride in; rode the fender'd bike today because of a threat of rain, but nothing really materialized, just a few drops. Temps around 14C/57F, quite comfortable in shorts and a t-shirt. I think a guy in a Hyundai found my presence on the road to be an inconvenience.

60F ride in this morning it seemed more humid than yesterday. I just wore my vest today. I was cold at first but eventually got warm enough to take the vest off too.

Hoping to ride tomorrow as well. Closing in on my goal for the year. less than a 100miles to go!

It was a nice ride yesterday, but I have been feeling fatigued so taking it easy. I did have a guy catch up with over the bridge at start of the commute, I was fine with him following. After we took the exit road I thought he turned right onto the connector to the river bike lane. So I continued on the main road and swooped into a driveway only to find him yelling, "WOAH!" He had not gone right, but gone onto the sidewalk instead to avoid the traffic, where I turn into the driveway that loops around to a traffic light where I can head to the left (across 6 traffic lanes). I at least was able to bail out of full driveway access and parallel him on the sidewalk. I kept hauling we were going 25 km/h or so since stopping would be worse, I think I sent him onto the grass. This is a prime example of why I think sidewalk riding is bad. I did not see nor expect someone travelling 25 km/h on the sidewalk as I turned into a driveway. He would have hit my car broadside it I was driving.

I do not even know where he was going, he continued straight while I waited to cross.

This mornings commute was damp but nice. Nothing of note I just puttered along.

My ride started out great even if I was a little late, but I realized I'd left my carefully packed backpack with my work clothes and lunch in it at home. Which meant riding home and then driving to the office.

Toque? Had to look that up - wikipedia said it's a chef's hat - interesting look for riding!

Beautiful morning, mid 40's - had a breakfast meeting and didn't get back on the road until about 10a so the temps were in low 50's. Got my new Foxwear jacket yesterday and used for the first time today - I love Lou!

Toque is Canadian slang (unsure of where it came from, some French derivation I assume) for winter hat.

@jrickards I use the MEC ear flaps/headband; they are great for the ears but do not let your head over heat. Also great as a sweatband in the summer. https://www.mec.ca/product/5023-727/m...tion-headband/

I toyed with the idea of this headband but I felt that I needed more protection from the cold, being bald and all. In the end, I have something like this Pearl Izumi Barrier Skull Cap (Unisex) - Mountain Equipment Co-op. Free Shipping Available but I didn't pay this much for it!!

Edit: here it is: https://www.mec.ca/product/5016-874/c...ll-cap-unisex/

The top is quite thin but I find it sufficient, and on especially cold days, I'll put my helmet cover on and that will stop air from flowing through the helmet vents.
