The temp was a cool 50f degrees when I was leaving this morning with clear blue skies. I wore a sleeveless shirt with shorts, cause this afternoon is supposed to be close to 80f. It should be a very nice extened ride home.

60F / 16C Maybe the cutoff sleeves felt a bit cool...but a nice ride in nonetheless.

New Belgium Brewerey's Tour de Fat was in town here in DC on Saturday...awesome. Awesome to see so many bikes out!

Chilly morning compared to the weather of late, with temps in mid-50s and low humidity. I wish we had weather like this all of the time. We had basically the same weather all weekend, and it was perfect for my tour training. I'm riding the GAP-C&O Canal trails from Pittsburgh to DC with friends in two weeks, so we did long rides on Saturday and Sunday with our bikes loaded up with all of the gear we plan to carry. Everything looks good-to-go except I'm still trying to work out my tire and fender situation. The 35mm cross tires that I would like to use won't fit under my fenders, and I'm afraid the smoother 35 mm road tires might not have enough tread if the C&O Canal trail gets muddy. I ordered some larger fenders from my bike shop, and hopefully we get the cross tires to fit with them.

Warm, nice tail wind. Nice ride in. Suppose to storm on way home. It's always something...

Definitely a bit cooler this morning: 60F. I added 1.5 miles on the way, but I wish I had gotten up and out a bit earlier to add more. I'm lovin' the long days.

Warm and sunny with a good tailwind.

Last thursday I got my first flat in 7000 kms approx. The rear tire was almost completely worn out so a small piece of rock was enough to puncture the tube. I bought a new tire this weekend.

Wet. Starting raining half way in to work I took a chance. The ride home will be blue skys and sunny though so it was worth it. I am letting my clothes dry outside at least.

Lots of runners out today, all gave me the "head nod" today.

Yesterday's forecast for today, sunny and warm. Woke up to overcast, showers and cool, what a rip off!!! And, I had a 45km commute in to work today, 20km to the dentist in the opposite direction, 25km back to work. During the last 15min of the ride to the dentist, the skies opened up, drenched me and started to thunder (but it was distant so I wasn't too worried, just too wet). Shivvvvvered in the dentist chair until the hygenist turned up a heater in the room (thanks Krista!) and then put on a wet (mostly from sweat) raincoat, wet gloves and wet shoes and headed out to work, at least that part of the commute was dry. Minor puncture on the way but one fill up with air got me to work, I'll change the tube later today.

Cool morning, especially for June I think. Clear, otherwise beautiful. Supposed to POUR the next few days, however.

Fast! I started the first half slow, my legs were really sore from running about with my son I guess. They hurt enough that I thought of not biking, but not going to give in.

Got over the river and just opened up. Other than two stop signs and a corner for about 4 km I was hauling at no less than 30 km/h, but mostly over 35. I had a guy on a mb tag on to the back. He said he was late and I just said hang on. He was fast in my draft, i even think he had front suspension and mild knobbies! We held about 41 km/h for 1.5 km or so until I swung off to work.

So 41 km/h is 25 mph. I had to sit down and have a bit of a breather once I got to work. I never work that hard normally. My usual average commute speed is about 24 km/h +/- 1 km/h, today 28.3 km/h. I usually max out at 28-32 km/h along that 4 km stretch and lolly gag the last bit to cool of.

I wonder what cars thought. Guy in the drops with kids seat and front panniers. Guy with backpack on mountain bike. Both hauling at 40 km/h.

very nice mild morning... I even saw two other commuters. Normally, Im the only one out there...

I have to find a new route to work in the mornings. Work has started on a Transit exchange upgrade along my normal route and the contractor decided that the best way to inform traffic of the work ahead is to put their construction ahead signs, squarely in the middle of the bike lane.

So, new route searching starts tomorrow.

Today was a gorgeous morning, clear and bright and not too hot, not too cool.. About perfect. It made Monday morning suck a little less.

Goes without saying...the beer was tasty!

Another nice uneventful commute in to work today. The temp was 55f degrees when I left the house with clear blue skies. I took new way home last evening and it cut my commute home by a mile, not what I was looking for. So today it is back to searching different ways home to add miles, not take away.

blew out my tire yesterday evening on a hill, so i went ahead and did some part swapping while I had my rear tire off.

Took the long way home yesterday, about 80F. A little over 20 miles. And this one hill I've found seems to have gotten even harder to climb.

And then I added a few miles on the way in this morning. A nice 58F, but it supposed to be closer to 90 this afternoon and the typical chance of thunder showers.

Major drencher on the way home last night, some gear still wet! I gotta find a better way to dry shoes. This morning was mild, mid 60's and news said 100% humidity. How can humidity be 100% - wouldn't that mean we're breathing water?

My ride is south to north, but there was a west wind just howling, and in parts of the city it would hit the buildings on the east side and then come back at me and swirl and become a headwind. It was crazy.

Have you tried newspaper in your shoes? It's a trick I picked up on this forum and it work quite well. Within 8 hours my shoes are almost dry. It's not perfect but its a fast way to get almost dry shoes.

Our Goldilocks weather continues with moderate temperatures, sunny skies and low humidity. All that is supposed to change tomorrow, when we get back to reality with more typical 90+ temps and high humidity.

Rounding a turn under a bridge, I was surprised by a small doe trotting towards me, on the right side of the path (to my left). There wasn't really any place for her to go to the sides, bridge bank on one side and creek on the other, so I just slowed down and tried not to startle her. If you don't turn your face to look at them, they think there's a chance you haven't seen them yet :lol: She acted a little skittish but decided to hold her line of travel until I got past, then bolted away.

I was struck by how similar it was to dealing with unpredictable pedestrians, and how the deer acted pretty much like they sometimes do.
