Similar weather to yesterday, about 12C/53F, cooler (or felt that way) in the shadow of the trees, clear, sunny but a bit more of a breeze (against me). This afternoon is supposed to be very warm, sunny, 26C/79F.
Nice ride in!

So humid. It was like riding through a swamp. 69F, dewpoint 67F.
It should get a bit nicer this afternoon, high near 80F, chance of showers, but as the forecast puts it, "Any shower or thunderstorm that develops later today will produce heavy rain."
Going to see the local production of Les Miserables tonight. It's the final show on our season subscription. It's getting fantastic reviews, so I'm excited.

Warm and very muggy. We have been getting thunderstorms almost every day lately and the humidity is ridiculous. I'm pretty much stuck to riding my "rain bike" until we get a break in the weather.

mid 50s and more headwinds ... was pretty chilled when I started but warmed up over time. The wind was persistent though.
Had a funny moment last night going home.
Part of my commute takes me on a very busy four-lane street near downtown. There's also lots of cyclists/commuters so it's kind of a strength in numbers kind of thing. So I'm riding and observe a little ways ahead of me a guy on a bike make a right turn out of a McDonalds onto the street. It's a WIDE right turn, so much so that a passing car had to swerve to miss him. Hey, we all have momentary lapses on the bike, so I give him the benefit of the doubt.
Until, that is, I come up on him really fast and it surprises me. As I slow down I watch and he's mashing a huge gear for no apparent reason. He's riding an old Raleigh Technium but it's in good shape and doesn't appear to have any mechanical issues. So I check behind me, move to the left to pass him and do so quickly. Naturally we come to a stoplight. I slow to stop and he does too, but then he shoals me. Well, maybe he got his shifting issue sorted out I think to myself, and again, give him the benefit of the doubt.
And then the light changes and guess what, he's still mashing a big gear, just crawling away from the stoplight, and we're coming up to the busiest part of this street, where there's a tricky little move you've got to make from the right lane, which ends in a right turn only lane, to the left lane so you can go straight. There's also a transit hub here, and a couple of stoplights, so you've got to be alert, and ready to move. I wait, and he finally spools up to a decent speed. Then of course he kind of bumbles through the tricky intersection.
Eventually we make it through, then down a slight hill and back up another slight incline where there's another stoplight. And as we approach this stop light, there's another commuter, older guy, but clearly a "cyclist" with helmet, mirror and panniers. Masher and I move to our left and pass the guy but then have to stop at the light.
And again, light turns green and masher is straining to get moving from the light and the slight uphill. Now he's slowing me down, AND the guy we just passed who gives a "ding" from his bell to let us know he's there. And now we're in a fairly busy neighborhood and approaching yet another light. We all slow, and masher moves to the right and I follow because this is a right turn lane and I'm going right and I know the green arrow will come on before I get there. Pedaling slowly he looks over his shoulder, then jumps into the cross walk and crosses instead of waiting for the stop light, and cuts me and the other guy off in the process. I let him go and finally, with his back to me I give him the finger (passive aggressive I know) and from behind me comes a huge fit of laughter.
It's the other commuter, cracking up and nodding ... so I look at him and say, "It wasn't just me, right? He was making you nuts too?" and he nodded again and we continued on.

Big headwind for the last two days, which is a bit unusual for this time of the year.
Yesterday morning a bird tried to pick up my helmet blinky while I was passing by, it's the second time so far this month. it's quite funny but my only fear is to get s**t on by the bird.

Light drizzle for me this morning. I caught up with a guy about halfway. He was late and I was early. We chatted for the last 4 or 5 km. He was a nice gentleman who just works around the corner and was pretty quick. He seems to race also, maybe I should find him a few other times an get some tips on getting into racing.

I did my longest ride on sunday, part of recovery for marathon training. 20 miles out to friends' cottage, it was great. I averaged something like 16 mph according to strava, which was tougher than I expected.
I better be careful or else I might give up on running entirely.

The commute in this morning was a nice uneventful ride with the temp in the mid fifties and clear blue skies. I have a dentist appt after work which is four miles in the opposite direction of my house, so it will be a nice ride home with all that riding added in.

It's only a matter of time, if you're like many of us. I used to be a big runner and thought I would keep it up into my old age, but it's very hard on your body. Injuries forced me to quit running, and cycling has filled in very nicely. Cycling is a much more expensive sport however.

Much debris on the roads this morning after a powerful thunderstorm blew through last night. And there is a pretty good size tree down in our parking lot.
But the ride in was nice enough, though it was humid. I left about 15 minutes early and added about 3.5 miles. More PM thunderstorms are possible today, it will just depend on how late in the PM they are as to whether I can ride home or not.

I was a cyclist first, then I got into running. Though I have always at least done some cycling, even if just a 2 mile bike commute. Now that I have a 12 mile (one way) commute I have less time for running, which is okay. I still try to run 4 or 5 times a week, with at least one longish run (12 miles).

Mild (15C/59F) and overcast with a slight breeze. Went for a longer ride home yesterday (36km/22mi) so today's ride in was purposely s l o w, a gear or 2 less than normal. Forecast for thundershowers later, hopefully either ending before I ride home or starting after I get home.

Wet from yesterday and last night storms, lots of debris on the roads and path. I'm glad I don't ride tiny tires any more!

I left the house thinking, this is the first day in a week that I've ridden on dry streets. Alas, about 8 miles in it began to rain.
It was only sprinkles but the streak remains intact.
It was a pleasant ride nonetheless.

Back on the bike today after 2 days off. Cold or allergies or something.
I got cursed out by a young woman who accelerated to try and get to a point where she could right hook me and had to jam on her brakes when she realized she was about to go into the back of a 5 ton truck.
In her mind at least, that was my fault.

It was beautiful. Cool, a bit of dew on the seat. I left home early and had a nice quite and quick commute.

Another very humid ride in for me. We did gain two more fair-weather bike commuters at work. Maybe they'll start seriously thinking of adding showers.

I love "June Gloom" here in So Cal; makes for a really pleasant ride in. I ditched the vest after the first few miles. Can't wait for the ride home.

Decided to switch up the route again this morning and take the Central Valley Greenway to work, touted as one of the crown jewel's of Metro Vancouver's cycling network. I've ridden it before, and there are some gravel stretches where I have to slow down, but it was even worse this morning as they've just laid a bunch of loose gravel down. :-P At least the weather was gorgeous!

Monday's morning commute was in rain and my makeshift plastic grocery bag shoes covers lasted 4 miles of 9 mile commute. I was drenched upon arrival. Who makes the best shoe covers?
Monday's afternoon commute was sunny and cool, no issues. So happy I switched to clipless pedals.

I would usually just use Lougheed and turn left at Boundary and join the path there.
