Black on grey with lots of reflective tape, sent in the final measurements this morning, I will post pics and review after I get the jacket and get a few good cold rides in.

Forewarning, now that I have a heavy duty jacket on order and a new fat bike arriving next week I can almost guarantee that the front range will be unseasonably dry and warm the rest of the winter.

My GF bought a heavy duty snowblower a few weeks ago, and I thought the same thing. I've already used it several times, and there's still more winter to come.

Don't take the weather bet. I just picked up a nice Eddie Bauer goose down parka on sale, and said "no way I going to need this thing this year"

it was 13F when I was waiting for the (late) train this morning.

Another thought is to find a rowing windbreaker - it's a short jacket with longer arms, and a panel that covers your backside. I've used mine with an underarmor long shirt and a thin fleece down to about 20-25, using pogies.

foxwear neoshell jacket just came in the mail, and it is snowing out, rain and snow the rest of the day.

I'll get some pics tonight, and this being pub night I will be riding 18. miles out and back in the rain/snow. Should have a pretty good idea of how this is going to work by tomorrow. The fit is good, the look is good. It is very light, but just trying it on inside it feels pretty warm.

Cheers,

How long did it take to have your jacket made out and sent out?

7 days from the time I sent in the measurements to the day it arrived.

ran some errands at lunch in the rain and went home to get some bills. So I took the dreaded bathroom selfie.

good length in the back, packs up small and kept the rain off, the real test will come tonight when the sweat starts. generous front pockets for gloves, love that.

I have found anything water resistant and breathable but not too thick works great. You can just throw layers under it no matter how cold it goes or how hard it's pouring down snow or freezing rain or rain - even down to -2 F it keeps you warm. You can find good jackets anywhere - I like getting stuff from TJMax as it's usually cheap - around $30 - to get a good winter/wind proof jacket. I have a nice Avalanche brand one at home that I wear for colder days ( below 25 F) and a 3 year old New Balance WellWarm jacket that isn't as moisture proof as it used to be but still stops the wind for the 25-50 F days. Above 50 F I don't need a jacket

Nice! I wore mine yesterday on my first ride of the season and I'm still impressed by how comfortable I am wearing it. It doesn't take too long to warm up, yet I don't overheat in it either.

rode in the rain at about 34F friday night (40 min) with a sweater on underneath, the weekend was warm, rode to town last night with just a shirt on in 65F in the evening down to 45F when I left town, comfortable. I still get some good sweat going on the arms but it dried out faster than in my other jackets, and at half the weight and bulk of my gortex hunting jacket this is one that is going on short tours with me. Like the big hand pockets.

Great for commuting,

Things I would like different, velcro on the cuffs for adjustability, slightly larger front pocket with a velcro flap.
