Fender flute

I resisted forking over the cash for a bit of machined metal and a couple screws, but finally couldn't resist. Problemsolvers $16 and worth every penny. This is why I love fenders. Started out with a clean bike on the ride to work, and had to ride home in the rain and after it ended, along the C&O towpath for 8 miles. You never know when you'll get caught out.

After the ride

Sugoi Resistor shoe covers kept my feet clean and dry

All cleaned up

Bikes: '09 Trek 2.1 * '75 Sekine * 2010 Raleigh Talus 8.0 * '90 Giant Mtb * Raleigh M20 * Fuji Nevada mtb

Does this move the fender closer to the wheel?

.

Nice! I've got a PS Fender Flute in the pile of parts I'm slowly getting mounted on my new commuter. Looks like it is going to save me a headache!

Yes, the flute is accually quite a bit longer than that, and has holes all along its length, so you can select how low you want to mount your fender. Almost always an issue trying to get a front fender close enough to the tire to be effective on an MTB. I've handcrafted aluminum brackets and repurposed other brackets in the past, but the Fender Flute seems to be an easier fix.

Changing the fender height is so much easier now. I run 700c and 26" wheels, and smaller 26" tires leave quite a gap if not lowered. It's a very solid setup for an area that sees a tremendous amount of stress.

That IS a problem solver. In the past I've just fashioned my own from old metal reflector mount bits in the junk bin. But I'd go for this if I need to again.
