Bikes: 2003 Trek Fuel 80, 2011 Allez Apex
Pretty sure its a 2003. Looking at the picture, it looks pretty well kept up, and I can personally say that many 2003 Treks were some great bikes, my FS mountain bike is a 2003 Trek Fuel 80, and while I've pretty much upgraded all the parts over the years, the frame and fork are still very solid.
$300 though is high. i would say the bike is worth 200 based on the BBB, and with the small upgrades, 200-250 would be a fair price for it.
