Bikes: 2014 Trek 7.2 FX

First Commute

Made my first commute to work with my new Trek 7.2 FX. It's a 1.5 mile ride each way. Made it in 7min 55 sec. I had quite a bit of stuff in my backpack so my back got a little sweaty but it was good to start the day off with a bike ride.

Congrats! Excellent choice to commute by bike, as driving 1.5 miles doesn't even give your car a chance to warm up which isn't good for it. Heck, it's barely enough time to let your body warm up on the bike!

Congrats, Krusej23!

You'll find that commuting on an FX is an absolute blast, first thing in the morning! It's like a daily morning celebration!

Cheers!

Congrats! One suggestion I have for a sweaty back, if you don't want to go the rack/pannier route, is to get a messenger bag. I personally found it to cause almost no sweat as long as it sits just below your back.

Congrats, I started on the the same bicycle, it's the perfect bike, especially if you get the Trek fenders, just makes it nicer.

Made it home yesterday 50 seconds faster. The struggle to make it faster begins.

What kind of fenders did you get wsgts? Could you attach a picture?

Although your mind may go that way for a while, I have found an easy pace usually yields a better commute for me. I have a longer commute at 10-15mi depending on route, but the chance to take in fresh air and your surroundings while many are still in bed is worth the added time. Enjoy..

Sorry, I looked around and couldn't find one, I sold the bike about a year ago. They were Trek fenders, and I took it back to the shop were I bought the bike and had them put on. At the time, I didn't really do any bike modification myself (come to think of it I still don't do a lot other than basic maintenance).
