I must agree that looks done up right! I did not know there were locking rings for a headset. Thanks for the pics

I use both an Abus Granit-X (u lock) and a Fahgettaboutit Chain. The chain is a 12lb monster though, and you could do nicely combining the Abus Bordo with a good U-Lock. Even that cable in the original post is ok alongside a good U-lock.

I would like this to be my official claim to the idea if no one else has done it.

If I was in a high they area I would consider the atomic 22 stuff it kicks nice, but it could add up fast. I am in a low theft area and am happy with Pinhead's wheels skewers and a U lock through the rear triangle

I sell CP... The way it works might actually translate. Especially if the thief didnt know, which I doubt they would. CP stopping material works by pulling out long threads and then stopping the sprocket. The question is would the grinder catch the threads or not. Potential problems include the fact that the material must be lofted and loose to work with a saw, would the thief just push it aside not even knowing what it was? If you taped it down to the u-lock and then ground into it would the compression from the tape stop it from working?

I am super curious! I will be tearing up a pair of chaps soon to find out!

That like Chain Mail? I could have used them on my brief Pre-commercial Thinning Forest job in the 70's ( thigh scars to show for not having any. )

Got the same idea in 2012.
One of many solutions to defeat a grinder though the way they have done it doesn't seems to be the best way to do it.

Found it on Craigslist. They guy paid $85 for it, used it once, then sold it to me for $25.
That's a good lock. Use it properly and it should keep your bike safe. I would also recommend a slimmer cable to secure your saddle. Bikeregistry.com used to sell a nice one but apparently not anymore. You can also make your own out of an old bike chain.

He dropped the ball with an improperly advertised and structured kick starter campaign.

O.k I noticed this thread is old but still replaying. I know it is a pain to carry a ulock + cable but so far I find that to be very effective when looking the bike make sure you lock the wheels to the frame of the bike then the bike to a post or bike rack look the pictures

Ideally, you want to use two different locking system to be more secure, but that's not always practical. If you're lazy about locking your wheels up you can alternatively use security skewers or hose clamp the quick release lever.

I had my bike stolen and reimburse from insurance. It sure wasn't a pleasant experience. Had to do police report, official documents, mail them in, and wait for claim. All while trying to buy replacement bike parts to rebuild. Time consuming process.

You got reimbursed for replacement value? How much? How long did it take?
