It was on the front page of the local paper (Minneapolis Star/Tribune).

It was taken from behind a water fall and unfortunately there's no way to ride your bike back there. These guy dragged his bike up underneath it.

I'd venture to guess studded yes. A lot of fat bikers are adding studs to their rides, snow conditions change rapidly and ice is a factor on and off trail. You're already going slower, so what's a little more rotating weight if you can stay upright? He's riding the new Twin Six titanium fat bike. They are absolutely beautiful and super light. They are also as you might expect in the rarified air on the price scale. But it is a very sweet promo shot for the brand.
