Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

advice. Fuji Cross 3.0 (2016)

Does anyone have this bike or know if it is a good model?

I am just now getting into cross riding. More for fun at the moment and not racing. I'm a big fan of steel frames for road riding. Been eyeing a Surly or a Jamis Renedage Expat but getting cold feet about dropping $13/1400 on a new steel cyclocross just yet.

Found a local C-LIST AD for a 2016 Fuji Cross 3.0 (with disc brakes). Less than 100 miles on it. Aluminum frame. SRAM Apex. Carbon fork.

My one worry is this is marketed as a Performance Bicycles Exclusive model and even brand new the model is already on a 50% off sale for $900 (says the original price is $1800- probably a marketing scheme).

Any thoughts? Am I about to buy something built to be subpar in order to keep cost down for Performance - like an outlet store pair of Levis?

THanks!

Pretty much totally depends on what you buy the bike for.

Fuji, as a brand, is completely fine. It is typically found as a generic bike shop brand, meaning fuji isnt exactly at the forefront of innovation, but not everything needs to be.

Are you sure about the model year? Checkout bicyclebluebook.com there is no Fuji cross 3.0 for year 2016

I'm actually looking at jamis renegade expat as well. For me, it might be exactly what I want. But I won't be purchasing until near end of year

I noticed that. It is a 2016. I think that's because its exclusively made for Performance bikes.

Is the bike for sale at $30, $600, $900?

The brakes are tektro mira. Ive set those up and used em. They are entry level with little adjustment available for fine tuning.
They work, but i also needed to go to the hardware store to replace a shredded bolt, which was a first.

The wheelset is most likely entry level. This is where the cost savings will be felt the most as everyone can see the drivetrain and compare that to other bikes, but wheels are a mystery and cost savings can then be hidden with entry quality wheels.

Total guess without looking at thenspecific bike, but $450 or less and it could be worth the buy.

You are right. I should have been more verbose.

I was just pointing out that it was $800, not $900 as the OP stated. I don't know where the OP saw it for any price because they are sold out. Unless the OP has a different link?

It's really not a big deal in the scheme of things and wish we could see the craigslist ad. It isn't a bad bike, certainly not a piece of junk.

This site says I can't post link until my 10th post? Not sure what that's about.

Owner told me he paid $900 for it new, maybe it was $799. Bought in early 2016.

Based on color it looks to be the 2014 model. FUJI CROSS 3.0 LE
