Allied Echo safety issues
The stem on my Echo Allied loosened up while riding on a gravel descent, causing the handlebar to slip down. I lost control and ended up in the emergency room. It has happened twice. Even though the stem bolts were torqued to specification. I feel there is a flaw in the design. Any comments?

Images online seem to show the stem looks like this:

Feels like if it was shipped to an LBS that put it together they might be at fault if they didn't put loctite on the bolts, didn't put carbon grip paste on the steerer, and didn't make sure any expander plug in there is under the stem bolts. There's more needed than just getting the torque right, I think.

What to ignore? Literally we have one slight side of the story with little context and knowledge about how it was put together and riding conditions and such. Nobody can really say what exactly happened but until the OP reaches out to Allied and until we have an independent party involved to look at it, we won't really know what could have happened.

Sorry for the late reply. Due to the fall and two broken arms, Allied has offered to ship a stem with a new design. I have not received it yet, so I do not know what the design changes are, I am wondering why they felt the need to change the design

Sorry for the late reply, due to two broken arms as a consequence of the fall. Allied has offered to ship a stem with a new design. I have not received it yet, so I do not know what has changed. I am not aware of other cases like mine. I have only found the following review by the Cycling Independent, who criticized some aspects of the stem design. I am not an expert, but the fact that the front bracket of the stem blocks the handlebars with two bolts at the bottom, instead of one or two at the top and one or two at the bottom, like other designs, has an impact on the force distribution.
