Anyone looking for someone to tour with?

Hi Folks,

Usually my wife and I tour together, but this year she's having problems with her achilles tendon, and to honest, I'm a little lost planning a tour without a partner. She's given me the go-ahead to tour without her, which is why I'm here looking for a tour to glom on to.

Last year we rode around Lake Ontario - 10 days riding, roughly 100k a day, loaded. We had a good time, camped some, stayed indoors some, saw some sights, and had a few beers along the way. That's the sort of tour I'm looking for. I've linked to my Crazy Guy journal from last summer here. Lots of pics, and a good description of our tour.

I have vacation for the first two weeks of August - and potentially the last week of July as well. I'm looking to hook up with a small group somewhere in Ontario or potentially Quebec as well. My preference is to camp at night, but I'm ok with the odd B&B - just trying to keep the cost to a minimum.

If this sounds like a fit, let me know and we can discuss offline.

P.S. The more I read this post, the more it seems like some sort of creepy cyclist singles ad... Not my intention - just looking for an adventure!

Thanks Renton!

We had a great time last summer - and on our other past tours around Ontario. I'm feeling a bit lost without my wife to tour with, and have mixed feelings about joining others. I'd hate to impose myself on a group and change their dynamic. My post is 'hail-Mary' of sorts. Just checking out all my options. :-)

Velo Quebec has a good looking supported tour around Eastern Ontario this summer, but I really enjoy the adventure of touring without support. I might join their tour if I can't come up with anything else.

Glad you liked the journal. I had fun writing it up - and its a great way to keep the tour memories fresh for years to come!

Hi Brawny. I too enjoyed your Lake Ontario journal. I like your relaxed approach to touring. Unfortunately, I can't hook you up with a group, or get away myself, but I hope you find something good.

Thanks Marmot! Not much progress yet, but I still have plenty of time to sort things out. Something will come up. It always does!

Hey Joe!

We had a hard enough time keeping up with you last year!!! We sure made pretty good time that day - probably the most gruelling of our entire tour. Next time in the same situation I'll strongly consider the GO train.

We've come up with a tour - starting in Wellington (in Prince Edward County), and then along the lake and St. Lawrence to Cornwall, across to the US side, back to Cape Vincent, across Wolfe Island to Kingston via ferry, and then back to Wellington. Not near as far as last year, and hopefully not as hilly as NY near Oswego was! Having family in the county really comes in handy with start/end points for the tour.

Kate's still on the injured reserve, but she's insistent that I put her in. She just won't quit. A good quality for a touring cyclist. And a wife.

Not sure I'll blog about this year's tour, but I've got a fancy new android phone that has a decent camera and wifi, so perhaps.

Happy trails - hope to ride with you again soon.
