Battery fitting problem

We are electrifying my 26 inch bike and realise the battery does not fit in the water bottle position, we can put it on the pack rack, but has anyone tried putting it under the bottom bar rather thqan on top ( it would sit behind the front wheel ?? Thanks

Kathy , I had a bottle type originally attached to the rear carry rack . I bolted the rail to the rack then the battery . When I got a bigger battery I made a case out of angled aluminium , insulated on the inside using a realestate sign (plastic) . It cost me about $15 and a day to make . I also thought about mounting it under the front lower bar but didn't like the idea of all the tyre flicking road grime and water over it , also it would need to be secured well . Heres a couple of pics of my first setup and recent .

Bikes: too many of all kinds

Kathy, you can put it basically anywhere there is a water bottle mount. I don't see any major problem putting it under the down tube (assuming you have bottle mounts there). It will be more succeptible to water spray from the front wheel and anything (stones) flying off the front wheel, so a fender wouldn't be a bad idea. But other than getting wet/dirty, I'm thinking your down tube is in good shape.

If you have a front suspension, ensure that the suspension at full compression doesn't cause the wheel to hit the battery.
