Help Needed!!! LifePo4 reverse pollarity damage?

Hello guys,

About 3 months ago I purchased the conversion kit below for my bike.

https://www.greenenergyparts.com/inde...cbicycle2.html

I installed it and it worked fine.
After working it for a few months, I decided to upgrade to a LifePo4 battery and so I bought this one:

https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...AQ%3AUS%3A1123

Once I received the battery, I plugged in the charger and left it overnight.
Next day, I went to try it onto the bike.

I connected the battery onto the bike but after 3 seconds it got very hot and some smoke came out of the battery. I disconnected it immediately to see what was the problem.

It turned out that the new battery's plug was connected in reverse polarity that the old one.

Now, I measure the voltage of the battery to 39V, but once I connect it onto the bike the voltage immediately drops down to ~10V and the bike doesn't even blink.

What I've done so far is:
Replaced the old battery and the bike works fine (haven't damaged anything of it)
Recharged the new battery overnight

Any help would be really appreciated here. Have I destroyed the battery?

Thanks in Advance
Nik

Yes. If the battery has a BMS or something there could be another explanation but this is highly unlikely.

Lesson Learned...

ALWAYS CHECK POLARITY, when working with new batteries...
If you got the battery recently, just get it replaced under warranty.
I'm surprised that the controller didn't blow instead of the battery
