Anyway,
I can answer your questions regarding E+ from your PMessage here, there is nothing personal in the answer and if I cannot send PM to you....
EMS manufacturer of E+ will never answer your questions of this kind, no way, they will advice you strongly NOT to use third-party batteries.
No manufacturer want to loose business and would want you to use other brand batteries.
So yes unlike Tidal Force it is very difficult to get rid of front NMH hub battery.
E+ will accept and power up on any 36V battery as long as front data cable is connected to front hub battery electronics so there is communication between motor controller-console/display-hub battery.
Shortly you must have front hub connected to data cable for communication to be able to power up E+ on third-party battery.
One must be electroncs knowledgable person to work out how to get rid of 30NMH in front hub.
At the very least you would have to carry one curcuit board front hub battery powered up on 5V .

This recent spell of warmer weather has made me focus again on this ebike. I've been relying on my regular bike cause that eventually warms me up when I get into the pedalling.

Just to catch up, I did get the hub back in december and (surprise!) it did fire up as it should when I hit the throttle. However, that main wire still is taped up, in the middle of it. Even though I asked them via phone and included a note in the package saying that they should install a continous black wire. (so much for listening to the customer). However, this new tape job looks a lot cleaner and doesn't have the bulge of the earlier one.

Anyway, I'm planning on resting the ping pack on this brace I forumlated with plumbers strapping tape and a 2x4. I also will have the the ping in a cushioned lunch bag ballistic nylon type case. The case will be suspended from the top tube with some velcro tape that I will sew on to the case. Any suggestions of what kind of paint to use on that wood? It will be black or dark blue. Want the paint not too run and bleed on my pants, for example.
