Cyclemeter question: overlay routes?
I'm using Cyclemeter on my iPhone and like the app a lot. I have a very standard route that I ride near my neighborhood and I would like to pull up some comparison tool that shows my latest ride vs one I did earlier to compare for faster average speed, splits, etc. Can this be done within the app? It seems like a pretty standard feature but I can't figure out how to do it.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I'm not sure if this is what you want, but try this:
1. tap the little "more" button in the lower right corner.
2. tap "routes"
3. tap on the name of the route you want.
The "dashboard" area gives you some good comparison charts and the "history" area will show every ride along that route.

The only issue that I am finding is that if I go to history I can only pull up one route at a time. So if I want to see my progress over a certain part of this regular route, I have to open and close each individual one to see the average speed, time, etc. I want a table or chart that shows a breakdown of my progression as I ride this same route over and over.

Just share the cyclemeter data with Strava. Strava has all the tools you need to this sort of comparison. (Probably Mapmyride does this too, but I'm not familiar enough with it to comment.)

In case someone else comes across this thread, here is the excellent response I got from Cyclemeter support, only a few hours after I emailed them. I have no qualms about giving them some money for the premium version.
Thanks for your suggestion about adding a feature so that you can overlay 3 graphs from completed workouts. I'm sending this to Engineering as a feature request - but for now, I think we already have a couple of features that that you will find helpful.
If you go to your History page, you will see four icons across the top of the page. Here's what they are from left to right:
History -- complete list of all of your workouts in order from newest to oldest
Summaries -- displays a summary view by activity by day, week, month, or year
Dashboards -- view and create column charts for your workouts
Key Performance Indicators -- add your own custom column charts, stacked column charts, or pie charts
Specifically, the Dashboards and the Key Performance Indicators can be used for comparisons. Here's how to review what statistics can be displayed for each one:
Tap the icon > +/Edit > + > Statistic and you will see a list pop up with all the stats that are available for that feature.
Here's some additional info about this:
Charts, or Dashboards as we call them, are sprinkled through out the app. If you visit History, the main Dashboard is accessed from the 3rd icon at the top of the page. The icon looks like a column chart. Remember that icon and look for it in other places in the app such as Routes, Acitivities, etc. There's a Key Performance Indicator (KPI), Key icon, on the History page where you can add your own custom dashboards.
If you go to the Key Performance Indicators, for example, you can set up a pie chart that will display your Distance for anywhere from that day to the past year. Anytime you view it, it will update with your latest stats. It might take you a bit of trial and error to set the charts up the way you want them, but once you've got them, they will be available for quick reference at any time.
If you go to the Dashboards, you'll see all of the pre-built charts. When you use the filtering options at the bottom of the page, it will be applied to all of the charts. For example, if you select the Month option from the bottom right filter, it will show you the month to month comparison for each chart in the list. And, of course, you can add or modify any of the charts shown to customize them as needed. The Dashboards may be more useful to you because it has more stats available to compare.
Now, I am going to include a lot of information about comparing your current workout to a single, previously completed workout. This is not exactly what you asked for, but I think you will find it interesting and, hopefully, useful.
The app keeps track of which workouts on a particular Route are the Best, Median, and Worst workouts on that route according to the ranking criterion you set in More > Settings > Advanced > Best. If you have only one workout on a Route, the app calls it your Best; if you have only two, then one is your Best and the other is your Worst; if you have three, then you've got Best, Median, and Worst. When you go for a workout, the app starts "playing back" your Best, Median, and Worst workouts – literally playing them back as though a ghost of yourself were running along-side you. We can then compare you to these workouts using either distance or time. "Behind best 15 seconds" means that your Best workout passed your current location 15 seconds earlier than you, for instance. These announcements can be triggered based on all the usual time or distance triggers, or based on when your ghost competitors pass you (via More > Settings > Announcements > Passing Event).
By default, the first time you ride on a route, it will become the "official" workout for comparison each time you ride. You will see your official workout displayed on your map and on your graphs as a dotted purple line so that you can compare it to your current workout, which will be the blue line on your map. Over time, the first workout may not be the one you want to compare against anymore. In that case, you can change which workout is the "official" workout at any time to help drive your new goals.
If you want to change which workout will be official, you can go to your History, select the preferred workout, and tap Edit and scroll down to Official and change it to Yes. When you save changes and go back to your map, you'll see the purple line adjusted to match your newly selected official workout and it will be used as the competitor for best, worst and median on your next run.
A few additional comments that might be good to know...
- "New Route" is not a route – it's just what we say when a workout isn't on a particular route. Therefore, you won't get any competition data if you're running on New Route.
- Your Best, Median, and Worst workouts are "playing back" along side you, which means that there can sometimes be strange effects. So, for instance, there may be times when you are behind your Median but ahead of your Best: All that that's telling you is that at that point in the workout your Median was moving faster than your Best (but apparently slowed down later).
- You can also compete against imported competitors. So, for instance, say your friend recorded a workout with our app and sent you a KML for that workout. You could import that KML as a competitor on a particular route. Any time you ran that route, then, the app would play back the recording of your friend's workout (the same as with Best, Median, and Worst, above) and compare you to it.
- These two kinds of competition are controlled by different stats. So, for instance, you can have the app set to announce (or display on the Stopwatch) "From Best, Median, or Worst (Time)", or just "From Median (Distance)", or any other combination, and that will always be competing against yourself. To compete against imported (or duplicated) competitors, you want the "From Competitor" statistic.
I hope this info helps. Let me know if you have any additional questions.
