So the colder days are upon us here in the Northeastern US. I started using strava in October and the virtual competition and community is a lot of fun. I will be riding through the winter, and I'd like to use the app to keep track of the mileage, routes and speed but I'd like to turn the segment feature off, as well as the visible routes. I would still like to take part in the challenges though, IE, mileage, gain challenges, etc. I don't want the app to keep track of number of "attempts" on a segment when I'm riding it leisurely. See what I mean? Or should I just go back to my longhand log and cycling computer? I don't use a Garmin or any other electronic device just my phone, strava, and my sigma 16 12 sts cad computer.

You want some features but not others. Why don't you want "attempts" on a segment? Who cares if they are slower than you'd ride them in the summer?

It doesn't do quite what you want, but you can set your rides to 'private' so others can't see your rides/segments.

Right, there is the private setting, but then a person can't enter the challenges either, right? The private setting says that it can be made public after its been uploaded, but I'm wondering if the map can be excluded and only show miles, accumulated miles, and challenges and not the segments or route. I have seen a public profile that did not include the route and was wondering what those settings may have been.

What if you just enter your mileage manually?
