Garmin 520 & Text messages

Hi all,
I just got a 520 and have it paired with iPhone 5s. Everything is working bluetooth wise except text messages. I have searched around online a little and tried the suggestions I found such as enabling text messages preview, forgetting bluetooth devices, etc. It seems I am still missing something to get this to work. Any suggestions or comments? Thanks

The garmin app is running on your phone?

Yes, Garmin Connect was running in the background. Any other possible ideas? Thanks

Have you rebooted your phone? Sometimes mine stops sending messages to my watch, rebooting the phone fixes it. Android.

No help with a fix, but have to ask - why do you want text messages on the GPS ?.

I know the 520 does this, but would really hate to have that enabled.
