What are some high quality basic bike computers? All I really need is the regular speedometer/odometer + cadence. I have a BC 16.12 Sigma wired unit that has been used for almost 3 years/3000 miles. My cadence is pretty well shot and the wheel sensor is finicky. I cleaned the base contacts and got the wheel sensor to work better, but no luck with the cadence.

I am looking in to some of the Garmin units but I have a lot of reservations about spending that kind of $ for something that may have some issues. So if I can get a high quality analog bike computer that will stay reliable year after year, mile after mile, that is what I am after.

I am not sure if a wireless sensor model will work because I am a ham radio operator and usually run a UHF radio on the bike and would probably get some interference when I key up the radio. I'd be curious to try one, though, if it isn't too expesnive. No wires = no fatigue on the connections to break the conductors.

I dont Know if they are still available, But My German Made Ciclomaster has worked whenever I Put a Battery in it ,
for decades , It just has Not been that important to Power It Up When I'm Not on Bicycle tours somewhere..

It has 2 plugs for Wires, 1 to a wheel sensor the other one to a sensor you mount near your crank arm
that you attached a Magnet onto.

I got it in the Mid 80's.

If You are clever for, RFI, you can put a metal foil or braided wire shield around the 2 wires to the sensors, and ground that separately..

That is done for Microphone cables (but that cable is a Bit oversize to use on a Bike computer)
