A bit non standard use , but this nylon piece worked on my Bike Friday pocket Llama..
https://en.bumm.de/uploads/tx_bummprodukte/471b_01.jpg in above link,

it has a 1" quill in the aluminum folding handlebar mast , so pressing the quill thru it , then putting it back in the fork,

gave me a headlight mount that would move if bumped, to not stress the headlight itself, but stay steady while riding...

due to the friction on the nylon mount .. working out a more rigid steering mast but will keep the nylon mount.

That is a useful thread. I had seen the Minoura spacer mount but I have so much going on in my cockpit that I kind of want to declutter a bit.

I dislike clutter on my handlebars so I 3D printed a fork crown mount for my GoPro but decided there was too much vibration for it to be able to pull up license plate details so I re purposed it as a mount for my Cygolite... If it will work for you I'll gladly send you the STL file so you can print yourself or if you have something else in mind I'm a little slow at work right now so I may be able to slap something together for you.

Looks like, for those working directly with metal ,

a square tube, with a bolt thru it lengthwise and 2 tabs on the side for the bolt thru the light mount wold be another approach ..

brazed and powder coated..

I don't have a 3D printer or know anyone but I would be interested in trying either your or Fietsbobs solution. I would probably go something sleeker and shorter because I think I could get away with that for a dynamo light.

I've been very happy with my Philips Lumiring taillight combined with my original Edelux headlight and Son28 hub.
The Lumiring bolts directly to my Tubus Cosmo rear rack.

Note; there are several additional styles of heavy stainless steel wire headlight mounts , from B&M ,

and a QR alternate Battery light Mount to use with them.. could be similar to the way other brands of battery mounts fit.

I have a front rack which I used one of those, have a handlebar mount on another bike , so battery light is shared between those 2.

Nor do I, I printed mine on Shapeways, cost around $15 with shipping...

Here's a link to the stl file you can print anywhere, shapeways included,

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Cd...zVLz43LSBw31uD

And here's a link to mine on shapeways, as an FYI there's no mark up on this, uploading and printing the above file should be the same price.

https://www.shapeways.com/product/MK...5f08b8fec3aca2

It would take me about 2 minutes to make it shorter. Let me know the length you want and I'll shorten up...

I will let you know if I ever get the dang lights. They got to the UK and then were sent back to Germany so hopefully they get through this time.

Wow, I am impressed! You are using 3D printer as a matter of fact tool. I make different mounts from metal bars, usually alu. This works in many cases, but not all - 3D provides more principal versatility. Your mount could be useful for Brompton where the front is fairly congested, though I am not sure how it would withstand getting knocked in travel with a folded bike. Going in the other direction, there is a B&M mount for Brompton that is very stiff and has similar functionality to your mount.

Agreed, I too was a bit nervous at first but am finding the 3D printed stuff, at least the selective laser sintered stuff, to be damned tough. I've tried unsuccessfully to break a couple of pieces for grins and have two tours and a summer of commuting on the front mount above and it held up flawlessly, knocking on wood. I'm not so sure I'd be as confident about fused deposition modelling though but I honestly have no experience with it... The reason I prefer using the rechargeable cygolite is that it doubles as a camp light at night. I have both the metal and plastic and couldn't quite make them work how I wanted, remember my original goal was to mount a GoPro, so I made my own mount. Maybe I'm biased but I like my mount a little better.

edit: everything I make I use myself I'm just sharing in the hopes others can get some use from them.

Same principle here of everything serving many purposes. I went through Cygolite front lamp for travel but then turned to a USB rechargeable headlamp, Black Diamond Revolt I think. I attach a Cygolite rear lamp, HotShot I think, to the rear of the headlamp strap. The benefit is that this is easily used with rental/loaner bikes and then I can also use the headlamp for hiking at night.
