Using Garmin Edge 1000 and FR 935 on a ride?
I've had my Garmin Edge 1000 for some time now, and just recently bought a Forerunner 935. I wanted the 24/7 heart rate, and the running and swimming features. I'm really enjoying all the data. What I've been doing for the bike so far is just to use the 1000 - because I like the display vs. the wristwatch, and I like the nice big text notifications and the mapping with the 1000 screen.
I'm wondering if there's a better way to do it? I get stuff like training effect and other run data from the forerunner that I don't think I get on the Edge. But I'm thinking if I use them both, then I'm gonna have two workouts on Garmin Connect, right?
Also, I'm doing an Olympic Tri this weekend at La Quinta, and I want to use the triathlon mode on the FR935, but I'd also like to have the info displayed on the Edge so I can see heart rate and speed data during the ride. Should I just start the training on the 1000 and discard it after?
Any advice appreciated!

I've got a Vivosmart, more for rainy days when I don't get to ride than anything else. Best way I have found to handle it is to take it off when I get on the bike with the Edge.
Alternatively, you can run the watch as an activity, and then when you look at Garmin Connect on a (real) computer, delete the watch activity.

I use the watch and not the Edge to record and upload rides. Not only do you get aerobic TE (which is useful) but also training load. Unfortunately that doesn't sync between devices.
Can still use the Edge to display. Just discard the ride at the end. Or save it but don't connect it.

Thanks! I was thinking along those same lines. Chatted with Garmin yesterday after posting and they said the same thing

I've got an Edge 1000 and Foreruner 935.
I use the Edge as a HUD (Heads Up Display) while riding but, all of my activities are recorded on the Forerunner.
FYI - I think Seattle Forest posted in another thread that a chest HRM strap is much better than the wrist based on the Forerunner.
