Hi

I am looking for a white front LED flasher to mount on my handlebars.

I have a generator front light but its not very eye catching. I have some Planet Bike superflashers for my tail lights and something similar in brightness for the front would be perfect.

I only ever ride on well light city streets for my commute so I don't need to lights to see the road. I just to be seen.

Anyone have recommendations???

I disagree Kleng. That light is terrible. A $5 bike light from dealextreme is brighter. Even the Super Doppler DX is not as bright! That is really sad! I compared it in store, and the BLT's were each going for $50-$55.

You would also consider getting a Cree Edition alone. It will automatically outshine the Doppler, Flare and the Bike Light from DealExtreme, rendering those flasher LEDs useless.

I did'nt realise that was so expensive, down here the flare is a $5 dollar type of light.
The flare is definitely not worth $55, just go with Grun's recommendations.

No stores sell the Cree models so there's no way to determine their brighteness without buying, trying it, then sending it back if you don't like it. Plus the con of this light on the Cree site was that it would not attach securely without wrapping the bar with electrical tape first.

Cateye has a couple of great front flashers that can be used as lights but not real effective to see with. The Cateye EL320 is a 1000 candlepower steady or flasher that will attach to your bar without Mickey Mousing ugly gooey black electrical tape. Also this light could be mounted on a fork blade if you choose.
They have several different models, the higher the model number the more expensive but brighter the light gets. The 320 is a good compromise between spending too much and not spending enough. https://www.cateye.com/en/product_listing/56

Honestly the cree lights in strobe are a little much, way too bright for using that way.. You could run them in sos mode which is a gentler flashing action.. I would also recomend the princeton tec eos.. This is a 1 watt luxeon star, they have a bike kit that comes with bar and helmet mount.. I used this for quite some time before switching to a fenix p2d for my helmet light.. You could use a 1 watt luxeon all day in flashing mode without causing drivers distress like you would with the cree in strobe mode..

I use a Fenix P3D in strobe on my helmet during the day, steady on (turbo mode) at night. At night I also use a 15W halogen bar mounted light.

The strobe is great during the day...really gets peoples attention when needed and has stopped a few drivers that were obviously planning on turning left in front of me or pulling out of a driveway in front of me.

Strobe at night would be way too distracting to other road users, and to me as well. If I'm in a situation where I need a strobe like effect at night I can just look directly at the driver of the vehicle, then move my head up and down to get their attention.

If you don't already have a light on your helmet I'd suggest putting one there. They're very useful for getting the attention of drivers coming out from the sides...just gotta look over at them and they see you coming. Also while making turns you can direct the light where needed.

Helmeted P3D Cree...Nice!

I setting up a pair of P3D's for handlebars, probably the L2D for helmet, maybe instead will pick up a 6.0V Cree Light for the helmet instead, so it will be just a tad dimmer than the P3D, or maybe the same.
