Looks like it might be sold out. Write to SB, and you'll get a fast reply regarding availability.

Since i started using the P7 i've noticed that the like flickers every so often. I'm not talking about the light changing power when it gets bumped around from riding. Just an annoying flicker. Has anybody had this problem?

It very well could be PWM. On some cheaper lights it's not used very well. If it is the PWM, short of major surgery there is nothing you can do about it.

Check out https://www.candlepowerforums.com for more info on PWM.

It happens on any of the non flashing modes. It doesn't really get warm when i use it while riding.

It might be worth running it for 10 mins and then removing the top and see how hot the LED is ?

Mine does this when I first start it up for a few seconds, then it seems to go away. No amount of tightening, stretching the spring, tape on the battery have stopped it. It does go way before I throw my leg over the bar.

i have an mte s-15

usually mine will be full brightness for about 1/60th of a second, then it drops down to what seems like a quarter of how bright it should be. it does this on all modes.

sometimes it will be full brightness but that usually doesn't last more than two minutes.

An update on the PLI I purchased: Bryan shipped the flashlight incredibly quickly, but it was defective when I got it. I contacted him via email and we exchanged about 8 emails over the next 24 hours. I think he's an email addict (like me), because we were both replying emails until past midnight. Anyway, he informed me that I should send it back to him for a replacement, which I did. I got the replacement earlier this week, and the new one works perfectly.

I don't have time for a comprehensive review right now, but here's a brief description of the light. I will post a new review thread later.

The light is comparable to the DealExtreme P7 lights in terms of overall size, form, and weight. It is better made than the DX light. Like the other Shiningbeam light I own, it has much finer tolerances all around and is as clean looking on the inside as it is on the outside (the internals of my DX P7 is a mess of ugly solders). My DX P7 stopped working after being dropped onto conrete from one metre. Hopefully this light will be more durable.

This light tailstands. It came with a lanyard, a couple of replacement tail caps, a few spare o-rings, and a momentary on switch for those who prefer them.

The light has three modes of varying brightnesses, and no flashing modes. It is very similar to the DX P7 as far as the beam is concerned. It has a wide spot with generous spill. I used it on Wednesday evening and it works very well as a bike light.

I think the higher production quality of this light makes it a better choice than the DX lights currently available.

Yan as both DX lights and the light from ShiningBeam. He finds the SB light to be of higher quality. Why would you discount that? FWIW, the lights I've had from SB have all been great quality, and the service is top notch and extremely quick.

I've bought 6 top quality torches from DX and all have arrived in perfect working order.

If I paid more for a torch on the basis of "higher production quality" I would expect it to work when it arrived.

So much for a level playing field.......

And I've received lights from DX that have been DOA. Even the highest quality products have faulty items reach the market. How the seller deals with it says a lot; SB replaced the light quickly.

Yan has been totally honest with his experiences, and I have no reason to discount him. You on the other hand have a long history of trashing anything that doesn't come from DX. It's a disservice to all who read this board.

Jeez..get a grip.

I HAVE NOT trashed anything, I pointed out an obvious contradiction.

Credit where it is due, I've placed a lot of orders from DX and received some outstanding products at superb prices and if you don't want to hear that, hard luck.

The only trashing taking place is YOU anytime anyone mentions DX and that is the genuine disservice to all who read this.

Why won't you let DX have a level playing field ?

The large majority of P7 owners here have bought from DX and are more than happy, why scare people into buying expensive overrated alternatives ?

Let people decide for themselves, let them be free to choose.

Ok, a few people out of a huge number over several years have had problems, but represent this fairly.

If DX sells 10,000 torches and someone receives a faulty torch - to you, it's the crime of the century.

If someone elses pays more for a torch on the basis of "higher production quality" and they receive a faulty torch - well, pat the seller on the back, it's no problem at all....

erm...if this retailer has "higher production quality" (lol) wouldn't the torch have worked when it arrived ?

Did you actually read the post you responded to? If you would have read it you would have found your question answered.

Exactly what is a 'level playing field' to you as far as DX is concerned?

Fast and Professional is how I have always been treated by Shining Beam.. It is true he answers emails very quickly, which is not the case for DX.. There are many people who have bought items from them and even though emails were sent several time, they were never answered..

You can go to a couple different forums and always find people who have lost $$$ with DX.. All the lights I have bought from SB have been fine right out of the box.. I just prefer dealing with US dealers when it comes to P& or MC-e lights..

Thanks for asking, I appreciate your concern.

Firstly, I would like to be able to express my opinion without being called names like 'fan-boy' or being called a prick.

Secondly, I would like to be able to offer advice based on my own experience without you immediately contradicting anything I say, you are rapidly losing credibility by doing this.

Maybe you could add a disclaimer to any anti-DX comments you make ?

Something along the lines of "my opinion does not necessarily reflect the opinions of the majority of happy DX/P7 owners on this forum" - if you could include that it would be much appreciated by all.

There's no point in you repeatedly accusing me of anything when it quite clear you are the one with an attitude and an agenda as is evidenced by this:

Are you thick or just a troll? First off you haven't answered my question, and I highly doubt you can. Second, telling the truth about DX and the sometimes shoddy quality of goods is pure honesty. It's you who paints the false picture that all at DX is top quality like one would find in western shops. That being said, as you well know I actually order things from them, so your fantasy that I'm anti-DX is totally bizarre. I simply wish to tell the truth about them, which is something you want to hide. Why do you get so emotional over an internet store?
