DealExtreme

What are your opinions about DealExtreme? I am not familiar with the website and some of the prices seem to be too good to be true. In Amazon.com the Fenix bike mount is $18 and in DealExtreme its about $9. When I look at the DealExtreme website, I get the feeling that is some sort of online 99 cent store. I just want to know if the site is reliable. I'm getting tired of Amazon saying they have something in stock only to get an email saying "The following items will ship separately, as soon as they're available".

I ordered a front and rear light but the front light is out of stock. I'm thinking of just canceling the order and shopping at DealExtreme.

I ordered a light. It arrived in about 2 weeks. Yes I'm not sure how it can work that they can ship $3 items worldwide for free. You pay via paypal so your credit card number is protected.

Bikes: one for everything

I'm getting iffy thoughts of DX lights......well that with other branded names.

Today I placed an order through them for 2 JetBeam ($72) each, then found an hr ago that DX is not an authorized dealer!!!

I searched more into it after I was shown this thread. https://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/...d.php?t=209746

If that's a clone, what is it to stop DX from cloning other lights, like the JetBeam with this info on their home page about DX https://www.jetbeam.com.cn/links/

I'd bet my money that DX's "Fenix" is a clone as well....

I'm in the process of trying to cancel my order for the two Jetbeam lights and will order from https://www.bugoutgearusa.com/ which is a REAL dealer.

I ordered from DX, because I had to get a bunch of bats and chargers anyways.

Order Bats and chargers from DX, even their DX, MTE, Aurora brands, but NOT other big name/well known brands. I love the MTE P7 torch I got from them over the summer so not all is lost with them...yet

DX is a drop shipper -- they don't carry stock. I put an order in and got part of it very promptly but I've been waiting for 6 weeks for the other part. Oh, and one of the 4 batteries I bought is a dud and will have to go back for replacement.

I placed an order for an MTE P7, charger, and 2 batts on the 14th. The order went into processing yesterday. It's in packaging now. I MADE SURE to order only items that were in stock. I've heard horror stories of 1-3 month backorders for items not listed in stock.

I've bought stuff from DX a couple of times. Their delivery times are very slow (usually 1 month or more). Quality of their products is mediocre to average at best. Prices are mostly dirt cheap. You get what you pay for.

Bikes: Too Many

On my last order I purchased a couple of items that went into backorder. After 1 week DX sent me an e-mail telling me they were having a problem getting the items. They suggested I cancel my order with links and detailed information on doing just that. I did cancel the order and the money for those items were promptly returned to my card.

I got my MTE P7 light in the mail today, and it was shipped last week.

I placed an order just under three weeks ago, including on a backordered item; most of the stuff came last week, but the other item (a red cree led) didn't ship until "10/14/2008" (and in quotes because there's still no tracking number, and the item page still says its backordered).

well DX accepted my request to cancel the two lights I ordered, so I was happy about that and the fact that it was fast reply. I'm sure I'll be ordering more from them, but not name brand torches.

I was going to try DX out but I just tried to register at PayPal and the website said I had to put in my bank number - not my credit card number. I just got worried and I stopped the registering process. I'm a PayPal noob. Did you guys register your bank numbers too. How does PayPal work did I register right?

Paypal is legit and the safest place you can use for check out

i hate normal CC check out, i always rather buy on stores that offers Paypal than CC

Paypal has a hassle free money back guaranteed, if you are not happy, more effective than CC

I found out the hard way, the limits of PayPal's protection. A bike shop would not ship my parts, even after a month had gone by. He ignored emails & calls. I started an official PayPal dispute. PayPal never once said they could guarantee a refund of my money (I asked!), but said they would contact the vendor, which they did. I finally got the parts maybe 4 weeks later. As soon as the delivery was verified, Paypal canceled the dispute.

I immediately got back to PayPal, "hey! ... whaddabout damaged, and/or missing parts!?!" And there were missing parts.

They said, "we only deal with if the shipment occurred, not what was shipped."

Wow. That was the end of it. I was f**ked! PayPal was done. The transaction was a success I guess, in their minds. They did tell me to talk to the FBI's online fraud dept if I wanted to pursue the vendor. They also said their full protection only applies if it is an ebay transaction.

Anyway, the wheels I ordered this week were paid for with Discover. I called the cc company first to ask if they would reverse funds if I got screwed again (told them my PayPal story). They said yes. Hopefully I won't ever have to test that.

Yeah I try not to pay with stuff with paypal with my checking account. I use the credit card. It has been known for some time that pay pal is crap with fraud so use your credit card with paypal and if something happens go through your credit card company to get it resolved it is much better and faster. Don't fall for the crap pay pal tries to tell you about that if you use a credit card you can not be protected with pay pal.

Bikes: Trek 800

I ordered the fenix mount from DX back on August 13th, twice I was told it had shipped, twice I later received emails saying it was on back order. The last information I have is that it will ship on the 31st of October.

I was given the chance to cancel my order and receive a refund. I decided to wait because at the time I was not able to ride anyway do to my broken knee. The doctor gave me permission to start walking a little over two weeks ago. The first day I got on my bike. I didn't go far, but the riding I believe has really helped the knee come back. (I hardly limp now). Should be back to work the 1st of November.

I will wait until the 31st to see if they ship, if not I will order the lockblocks from https://www.4sevens.com/. I will still not cancel my order of the fenix mounts as I am curious to see the quality that has come into question in some of the reviews. If I do not like them I will give them to my brother with some cheap DX lights who rides ninja.

Does anyone know of a belt sheath that will fit the EDC-P7 from elektrolumens.com? Will any of the ones listed on DX fit? I just ordered that light the other day, will not ship until the end of November but would like to get a belt sheath for it.
