What model are you using? On my Strada Wireless (on the front fork), I don't recall having to sync the two together worked great. Swapped it for a Strada Double Wireless (left chain stay), I had to sync the transmitter and the computer. I got the Strada Wireless Double because I wanted cadence (and I got a trainer for Christmas).

Pic of of my Strada Wireless on the front fork. I mounted mine on the front of the fork, as the rear of the fork is more bladed while the front is rounder. It is angled a bit toward the wheel. The magnet is inside of 5mm to the sensor. Another reason for mounting it in the front is if it ever gets knocked into the wheel, the spokes would just push it out of the way. Sensor is on the left side, the computer is on the stem.

Sorry no pic of the Strada Double now on the bike.
