Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

cycling computer with the smallest sensor? (wireless)

As the title suggests, I'm looking for a cycling computer - one with the smallest sensor that gets mounted on the fork.

I like what I've seen from cateye- is that as small as a wireless sensor is going to get? I'm not too worried about cadence, I just want to keep track of distance, so I don't have to measure them out on google earth when I get home

Max of ~$250.

Thanks for any help.

Do you have an odd fork or something? Some of the Cateye computers (with cadence) have sensors on the rear wheel, but they aren't exactly small.

I used that computer for many years and the battery never wore out. I think it is a very good computer and it will give you what you need. And even better, it stops counting average speed and ride time when you are at 0.0 mph, so for average speed it is good. It updates quickly, and the Onetouch (something along those lines) is very easy to use, and easy to reset.

Cateye Strada Wireless comp is definitely the way to go. It's been great for me and the battery has never died--

That's on the pricey end of the OP's budget.

I love my Cateye Strada Wireless. You can get one for $38 through Amazon.

Hey man, not my budget.

That said, for what he wants he could probably spend an 8th of that and get what he wants.

Garmin Edge 305/500 or Forerunner 305/310XT with the mounting kit off of FleaBay is my recommendation

I use the Cateye Micro Wireless. The thing is tiny, works perfectly, batteries last forever. Gives speed, average speed, time, distance, can be programmed for two bikes. Cost me 50 bucks.

I love it the recommendations continue to pour in long after the OP has left.
'Wait! You should get a wired model! The sensors are tiny and they're far more reliable!'

Quit pretending to live in a world where threads are the sole property of the OP.

But it's in the budget and he won't feel the need to upgrade it for a looooooooooooong time.

Right now, $249.99 without the HR/Cadence. They had 10% off yesterday, plus additional %10 if you're a member.
