I had a 3.0, it died and Blackburn replaced it with a 3.3. If nothing else they're great with a warranty replacement, new unit just by returning my old.
If you're buying it as a "see" light versus a "be seen" one you'll be somewhat disappointed. While decent brigghtness, it has a very tight beam pattern with very little spill. Very much a pencil beam. at 30' maybe a 5' circle. I use it as a secondary light, running on flash mode, which is quite effective. Battery life is good on flash, not that overly wonderful on steady (3hrs).
Comparing it to a PB Blaze which I also have I'd say that the PB beats it, but not by leaps and bounds. PB definitely has the better strobe, which is the purpose I use the smaller lights for.

No experience with that light but isn't that part of a package system? The tail light is nothing more then the Mars 1.0 and it's not a very good tail light. I have the Mars 4.0 and that thing is freakin bright with a 1 watt red led for the rear and 2 amber side leds for side illumination that most lights forget about; and after a year of commuting in weather it's still holding up just fine for only $20-a great deal!!
The head light in that 1.0 package is also weak, the Planet Bike Blaze 2 watt would be better for about $42. A good thing about this light is you could use it a long time, then later when you decide you need a brighter light you could still use this as flasher alongside your brighter light. Flashers on the front are a good thing because it attracts attention to you before they see the headlight.
There are brighter headlights then those I just mentioned but it looked like your trying to stay in a budget, just don't go too cheap because your well being is at risk.
