Garmin Edge 500 question

I'm about to pull the trigger on the Edge 500 w/ cadence and speed sensor.

Assuming I have good satellite coverage/reception, does it still use the speed sensor as the primary source? Or only when it loses reception?

Thanks

Once you mount it...go for a ride on a flat surface and it will auto calibrate.

I don't want to muddy the water here, but while the GSC-10 is the primary source for speed, it appears that the most recent firmware update may have introduced a bug that causes speed fluctuations when the GPS signal is weak...which is contrary to how it's supposed to work.

You can find out more about this at the Garmin support forums:

That said, I have the 500 and have been very happy with it. Although I'll admit to lusting after the upcoming 800...

Off topic of the original question but I didn't want to make a new topic,

can anyone tell me where I can get the best price for the Garmin Edge 500 bundle w/ hr sensor and cadence? Best I've found so far is $315 on amazon.
