Multi Purpose - GPS, Music & Phone System?
Am beginning to think of, and researching, a GPS system for bike touring. I am wondering though if there is anything out there that would serve a number of purposes like music storage and phone in addition to GPS. Thoughts?

A smart phone. I use my Android phone for these very purposes.

As I read some threads people discuss downloading maps. Will a smart phone be able to do so if it has GPS capabilities?

Also, any down side to using a phone rather than a dedicated GPS system?

Battery life unless you find a way to charge it while you ride.

You can buy battery ad on packs that are a case as well. You can download apps that have map info stored in them.
