Edge 800 / 10000ft elevation bug

Anybody else have their accumulated elevation gain # blank out to just 4 underscores "_ _ _ _" once you cross the 10,000ft mark? Garmin tells me to reset the device, but of course that won't fix it. It's a software issue with how they display the number I assume.

It's fairly frustrating as I'd been setting goals like "do 8000ft in one ride", then 9000, then 10000. For 11,000 and beyond I'm gonna have to switch to the metric system.

The bug also occurs on the summary screen, which is where I took this screenshot from:

I am appalled by the poor job Garmin does on the software for their cycling devices. By all means, go to official Garmin user's forums to find out more.

I did post this info on Garmins forum first....in the 4 month old thread where another user has the same issue.

I just posted it on here since this is a more active forum and maybe somebody has found their own workaround. It's been six months since the last firmware for the 800.....I'd like a bit quicker turnaround for such a pricey device.

Got a response back from a tech guy at Garmin, and he claims the bug is fixed in the next firmware. No ETA on that though.
