Online/mobile app for cyclists
Hi,
I’m Pawel Madeja, me and my two friends are working on the online/mobile application for cyclists called Wheelog. We’d like this app to let its users collect information concerning routes that have been ridden in a particular season, track their stats, choose a training plan etc. Our aim is to create a decent tool which will satisfy even the most demanding ones. Refining it, I’d like you to tell me what would you need most in such an app? What options are you eager for? Do you use any app based on embedded gps module in your mobile phone which registers ridden routes? What do you lack in available solutions? In your opinion, what would be more useful: website for advanced cycle/mtb amateurs or rather something for ordinary cyclers who want to collect information concerning ridden kilometers and interesting routes?
I will be extremely grateful for any ideas and suggestions. I will try to use as many of your propositions as possible. Process of creating this app is also my Master thesis theme so your comments will be the more helpful ‘cause some of them can be used in my paper assignment
Last but not least, in case you’re already interested in trying Wheelog, I invite you to www.wheelog.com – leave your e-mail address and you’ll be the first to get an access to our website’s beta version.
Regards, Pawel.

Lots of them already, all have their flaws. If you can make a better mousetrap, more power to ya. Getting all the functions of, say Strava, on desktop to smart phone isn't easy, or they would have done it.
Drawing routes like mapmyride or ridewithGPS on a smart phone would be nice. So would better zooming to routes.

What OS is the app for? I would be a big fan of an android alternative to mapmyride. The app does mostly what it's supposed to do, but am definitely looking for something that can do a little more. I'll have to think for a minute, but every time I use it I know I always want more.
On a side note, you should fix your email address validation to allow for +'s. I don't signup for anything that won't allow them in email addresses.

We would like to publish beta version as fast as we can (likely on september 2012) - in the beginning it would be browser web app, with adding activities manually. We know also how important is native app for mobile devices, so that be our next turn - first for Android and iOS. It will be priority for us to publish these apps with the beginning of new bicycle season (our deadline is on march 2013
.
We fixed validation, now you can add e-mail with "+", thanks for comment
