Calibrating Power Meters on the Garmin Edge 705

I have a Garmin Edge 705 which I use with an iBike Newton for power data. I've noticed that there's an option on the Garmin for calibrating power meters. Also, I've seen references to that function in articles about the 705. Is calibrating my power meter something I need to do, and if so, where can I find instructions on how to do so?

Depends on the PM I think. Quarq calibrates with >4 revolutions of backpedaling (maybe >8, so I just spin it freely backwards for 10 to be sure). They also have a calibration routine using a known weight, an ANT+ reader, and an iPhone app.
