Bikes: Yes, I have bikes.

When does a wide tire qualify as fat?

Is a 27.5+ x 2.8" knobby just a wide MTB tire or a slim fat bike tire? As a roadie they look pretty obese to me. 😁

Bikes: cyclocross commuter, 29er full suspension, surly necro

3.8” or more wide is “fat”
3” to <3.8” is “plus”

27.5+ x 2.8" knobby... that’s just next year’s gravel bikes

Bikes: 2020 Surly ECR / 2018 Norco Search XR steel gravel bike with GRX / 1983 Bianchi Campione D'Italia / Gary Fisher Wingra / Motobecane Nomade mixte (daughter's)

I would say 2.8 is included in the "Plus" size category. That's how my Norco Fluid 2 HT was labeled, with 27.5 x 2.8 WTB Rangers.

2.8 = plus or "semi-fat".
