Ride Number Placement

30 years ago when I used to run, we pinned our numbers on our chests. I'll be riding in an organized event/ride tomorrow, and wondering wear to pin my jersey number?
Since I ride fairly upright I could do that, or is the back the place to be. Tim

Numbers go on the lower right backpocket of the jersey if memory serves me.

When I was racing criteriums, I'd put the number sideways on my back flank so the judges (on a stage to the right of the finish line) could read it right-side up when I finished with the top sprinters.

I cannot verify if this method actually works.

Thank you, I put the numbers on like in the picture and they end up sideways lol 8 becomes infinity. My flat bars are about 5" higher than the seat, more cruiser than racer.

If the event doesn't specify, which most races do but rides don't, put the number on your back pockets, but so you still have access to the pockets.

Most of these type events are not timed and they don't really care about the number. Put it where it is convenient. You will see numbers on the seat tube, on the front, upper back, lower back, stuffed in jersey pockets .....

Finished the ride, was actually 62.3 Km. Rode at my own pace and finished in 3 hours on the money. Last couple of miles the legs started to cramp so eased up a bit. Not bad for an old beat up guy riding a IGH 5 speed
