I ignore or laugh at studies about risks from certain foods. These "experts" are paid by someone who seem to spit up results similar to the release of fashion fads. Do you remember the incredible edible egg? Eggs were good for you, then they became bad for you and now they're good for you. Or, are they back to being bad for you again.

+1

That's exactly it for me. I take all such studies with a grain of salt for exactly that reason. If you read the article carefully (it is better written than most), it's careful to point out the limitations of the study, the extent of the risk, and that the researchers were not unanimous in their conclusions.

What would be fascinating is if someone had an actuarial app that could estimate your longevity, considering all (or at least most) of the risks we encounter (including all of the cycling related risks and benefits). My guess is that when it comes to occasional consumption of red meat, the result would be literally in the noise.

This study has no chance of competing with modern marketing techniques, which are as effective as Jedi mind tricks.

Yep, I'm sure eating too much of anything will make you sick. This only provides vegans with something they will consider public validation.
