First Century Today!

110 miles @ 14.7. I was above 15 MPH at the half century mark, but just couldn't hold it. I must say, it was rather tough. Had really good weather with the exception of a strong headwind from about the 40 to 60 mile mark. The ol' behind really got sore around the 80th mile, and the last 10 was really painful. But overall, it was well worth it to accomplish a goal I've been wanting since I got back into cycling. My previous best was around 70 miles.

The legs and knees held out strong, and the energy and stamina were there, so I'm pretty pleased.

I hope to do a century this summer, although I have a lot of winter de-training to undo. Maybe by August.

Great job. You are in the ball park of the time it takes me to do one. It's a great feeling to put your mind and body towards a goal and accomplish it.

Congratulations on your first century! That's a great average speed too. How many feet of climbing?

I rode my first century when I was 27 and have long since lost count. Only one this year so far (Palm Springs) and much slower than you!

That's pretty awesome. Rick asked how much of it was climbing and I was curious, too. Which saddle/shorts did you use and was there anything you could have done to make the posterior section more comfortable?
I am curious as to what your training was like, too.
My record is about 72 miles and I have my first 100 coming up in august.

About the only pic I took was this celebratory screenshot after hitting the 100 mile mark.
