I come from an ethnic family where arguments and disagreements are de rigueur ... they're just not all that memorable.

I think that is part of the problem when it comes to that sort of thing. Some people have thicker skins (and thicker heads) than others. lol

I would hang out here more but imo too many topics are health related and better asked in a doctor's office

Bikes: recumbent & upright

IMHO- as time advances "the way it use to be", is often more about memory than reality.

i missed whatever the argument was. Things did seem to slow up a bit. However, recently my company stated to block websites such as for sports and entertainment. Supposedly it was a bandwidth issue, mentioning streaming. Since then I cant connect to bikeforums.net from work, so I dont have as much opportunity to contribute. I will say I have met biker395 and rick@ocrr on some of the California double centuries. Great guys and it was great to actually meet contributors.

I thought those were very fun days. Silly, but fun. We had some people who could write well, and perhaps the banter was a bit much... but in my opinion things can get too serious otherwise. Without Pie, it's just an endless litany of bike modifications and quirky body parts! Pie is the the leaven for the board!

Bikes: too many bikes from 1967 10s (5x2)Frejus to a Sumitomo Ti/Chorus aluminum 10s (10x2), plus one non-susp mtn bike I use as my commuter

There's no reason we can't find a balance between the insider comraderie of the regulars, and being open for newbies or casual participants.

IMO - folks get too worked up about posts or threads that don't like for some reason or other. The remedy for this isn't trying to change things, but simply to read selectively, enjoying what you enjoy and ignoring the rest.

+1.

I don't really know about the insider stuff. I'm over 50, and I've never felt like an outsider in this forum.

Bikes: Several bikes, Road, Mountain, Commute, etc.

I've been on this forum for quite a few years too and have never felt like there was an issue, even though I never felt like an "insider" or that I'd been left out. Not sure what the whole dust up was about but in any case I don't think it made any difference to me!

I'm still here. So's my RockyMountain Solo and my Xootr Swift. Still wobbling about moving to Calif or staying in UK. The Specialized and the Santana have gone the upcycle way, though, so change has occurred!
