I'm with ya.
Cliff Shot Bloks as an alternative.
And the occasional WA pause that refreshes.

Because sometimes a shot of whiskey is a better motivator! But not for bike riding...

"45 Minutes"

Good to know!

My morning routine is a medium cup of joe with an honey oak bar while I check the financial markets. That promotes a visit to Johnny. Then I follow with an 8oz. sugar free RedBull mixed with 8oz. of tart cherry juice.

I'm good to go!

Funny thing is, I'm more buzzed after a good ride than before.

I measure my coffee consumption by pounds, not milligrams, but I usually consume a large Americano (4 shots of espresso) before a long ride. Keeps my caffeine level in the acceptable range for an old Swede.

Nah .... when I started cycling I used to smoke weed, a spliff 5 minutes before you cycle, and you can ride all day at fast speed

much better than coffee.

I have not smoked for several months now as I'm on a health kick, but i will have a joint when it's my birthday and I will go for a good fast far ride and smash some strava records

Caffeine can give you a bit of a performance boost, but how much depends on your personal physiology. I think most of these "energy" gels, drinks, etc. are pricey gimmicks.

Due to already being a nervous person (I take medication to keep me from getting too jittery), I have to drink decaf coffee and sodas. Having said that, on rides where I know it will require "effort" to complete, I will down a cup or two of regular coffee to get that little extra boost I know I'll need.
