Almost Back...

I pinched a nerve in my shoulder last month. And have been off the bike three weeks. Two days ago I didn't have any pain until 8:30pm, and yesterday was pain free. There is still some tenderness and discomfort. Tomorrow is my first physical therapy session. I'm hoping they don't aggravate my shoulder, too badly. This weekend I plan a couple of short rides, and hope to resume bike commuting Tuesday, as I can't ride Mondays, due to an evening committment.

There was a little crankiness and irritability, and after a few days off I also felt some depression. I expected all that. But it wasn't as bad as when I quit smoking 32 years ago.

I felt like I was missing out on the dry, warmish days, but the cold, overcast day with flurries really made me want to ride. Sure driving to work kept me warm and dry, but when I ride to work on a cold, snowy day I feel that warm glow deep down inside, the big difference between the cold air I breath in and the warm air I breath out, and that rush of adrenaline that kicks in after 20 minutes or so.

I can not wait.

With this kind of drive and appreciation for the cycling experience.., you are going to be fine.
Let us know how your P.T. appointment goes. Also, look into gentle massage.
